[ terrible how she doesn't even blink at this. sometimes you truly see some wild shit in your short lifetime.
anyhoo, time for some magic ]
Forsettao Meiuvat...!
[ it should be noted she says this like she's been waiting her whole lifetime for this moment. futaba rounds out this trio with another 16 so heyo she's doing some kind of trapping maneuver to trip up mr. former knight ]
I don't know! The tower came down and he transformed!
[One of those voices did say something about research. Perhaps the knight captain was involved in some of that. Even if you wanted to, it's impossible to ask him questions about it now.
Rin soars up and into the air, almost as if he's flying, with no problem at all. His knives dig easily, and deeply into the beast's back (2). When he pulls them away, instead of blood or flesh like one would come to expect from an animal, there's a sickly, pale glow. There is only moonlight beneath these feathers.
With Futaba's 16, and the matched 16, one foot sinks into the floor. For this creature, for the moment, the floor is like quicksand. The free clawed foot takes a swipe at her torso (16). A winged limb tries to knock Shinobu out of the sky (13). In it's flailing it also attempts to hit Rin's arm with a limb (19) to break it.
The creature grows larger, shrieking loudly, painfully to your ears. It's now a little harder to hear each other.]
[He doesn't have much time to think about what all that moonlight means though, because he rolls a 16 again against that 19 and no his right arm is broken. Rin is going to get knocked away and drop one of his knives as he screams out in pain, and moments later he falls on the ground.]
[ shinobu is knocked out of the air, but just barely. she manages a landing, doing some neat acrobatics to take away some of the impact.
she gets back up immediately and as she notices it grow in size, she frowns. she looks over at rin and his broken arm, and she decides it's better to try to take down this bird faster before it can harm anyone any more.
she needs a weapon, so she will try to transform a candelabra into a sword (10). she looks at what happened, and she sighs.
instead of trying to lob the head off, she will now try to immobilize one of its feathery wings with this sai-candelabra. ]
[ her measly dodge (15) doesn't do much to save her and futaba yelps as the foot sends her into a wall. ouch. that wound is certainly bleeding now.
while the others are busy, give her a moment to look and see if there's anything she can yeet. please rng gods just smack her in the head while she's not paying enough attention
...though hm, maybe shinobu has the right idea and she'll grab a candelabra and just clock Mr. monster man over the head when he's distracted. ]
[Shinobu's makeshift weapon is thrown (18), pinning an arm against a wall. This wound also reveals moonlight, instead of revealing blood. The thrown candelabra hits its chest (11), but it doesn't seem phased by this.
Rin lands behind the creature, and thus escapes its notice (5) for the next round of attacks. The creature looks bloated, grotesque, bulging out at strange places.. Wings erupt out of its back, it's hands clawed, it's one free foot lashing out at Shinobu (6). It's one free arm (20) successfully gouges into Futaba's left arm, raking into the flesh there when it connects. All of its flailing limbs completely miss Rin (1).]
[Rin is glad this monster isn't hitting him, but this isn't going to work in the long term. It's too big and it's hitting them too hard. He sees that strike against Futaba in particular and he knows he has to do something.
Luckily, fire is easy to picture, even when he's hurt.]
Adnodus Omnis!
[He's just pointing his other knife at the creature, and he's imagining blue flames burning that arm that hit Futaba. Make it hurt, and maybe it will stop attacking? His roll of 9 does not inspire confidence though.]
[ shinobu dodges the foot with ease (10). she sees it shed moonlight, and she has to wonder, if she turns the windows dark and therefore block the moon into this room, if that will help any. she really does not know how the moon works in mhyk and neither do i. ]
Ortonik Sealsispilce!
[ a roll of 9 is not great.
both of these children are getting so hurt, and no one is going to think she's doing what she can to protect them. ]
[ wELL SHIT. Futaba shrieks as it cuts down into the bone. with rin's added fire and her feeble attempt to yank her arm back (7), this goes as well as you'd expect. which is terribly, congrats to all of us for a job well done. ]
F-forsettao Meiuvat.....!
[ intent is everything and with her arm now mangled, her spell doesn't quite have the effect she was aiming for. her attempted dia slaps a (decently wrapped!) bandaid over this bone cracked wound (8) ]
[It starts struggling to free itself from the wall (6) and fails.
Blue fire (9) wraps around the limb that has Futaba's arm, though it only lasts for a few moments before dispelling. The creature yanks its arm away, but not without trying to take Futaba's arm with it (12).
Shinobu's doing her best. With a roll of 9, the windows darken slightly.
The moon glow from the monster's wounds is slightly more intense. There are several points where the monster seems to shine oddly, even where it isn't injured. Continuing to darken the room may reveal some specific areas that need to be dealt with.
Futaba may have a bandaged wounds, though it's not expertly done.
It screams louder this time, and a little more of your hearing goes with it. It lashes out at Rin (4) with a wing, Shinobu with an arm (10), and Futaba with the same arm (11), then it swings back to hit Shinobu (16).]
[Spots where the monster shines oddly, is it? That's fine, Rin can guess what that means.
First he dodges the wing (18), and then he's pushing himself up to his feet so he can start to move away from Futaba and Shinobu, off towards a part of the room so that they won't get caught up in his idea. He doesn't have a way to darken windows or heal up Futaba, so the best he can do is be front and center to try to distract it.]
Hey ugly! Over here!
[And then he's going to focus his fire on one of those shiny spots (12) to see what happens.]
[ shinobu is going to get hit, and she's going to go down. it gouges her with its talons every time it hits her, the first shallow and on her arm, the second deep and on her abdomen.
she's in too much pain, trying to regain her bearings to do anything else for now. ]
[ given her current -10 disadvantage, futaba also eats shit and stays there. whoo look at the birdies coo around her head. everything just pounds to her heartbeat at this point. ]
Forsettao Meiuvat!!
[ while rin is (hopefully) distracting it, it gives her enough time to gather her wits and direct a splat of squid ink at the nearest shiny spot (14). here's hoping that works as planned!!!!! if it does and given how they're all hecking deaf at this point, maybe she can lead by example. ]
[It only throws a wing down at Shinobu, if it hits it will only bruise her (8).
Because Rin is the one who's yelling, the creature's attention focuses in on him. It swipes at one of his legs, digging it's claws painfully into him (20) and yanks its hand back and away, trying to pull him off balance, with little care if it takes his leg off.
Rin can see the spots where it shines are the chest, stomach and back. Additionally, these are the places where it's bulging grotesquely. With a 12 against a 4, he manages to char it's back. But fire is not how you'd get something out of a body. That's what surgery is for. He does have a blade.
Futaba's ink hits it squarely in the chest (7), though it doesn't do much to slow it down, some manages to splash up to an eye, blinding it on its left side.]
[I hate that Rin has to be the one to notice these things. But he'll yell out to the others, because this is important information to get out.]
Cut it on the shiny spots! And the weird, bulging spots!
[Rin is down and now his leg is injured too, but he's not giving up yet. He's healed from worse, it's fine. He's going to just throw his knife at the shiny spot on the monster's stomach, trying to use enough force to stick the blade in. Hopefully a 17 is enough to do that.]
[ she is going to try to heal herself (14 i don't know how much advantage she has because of jar), whispering the invocation, and then she is going to rise and get bruised for her troubles.
she rolls out of the way and grabs any sharp decoration or cutlery left behind from the party before lunging for the spots she lit up earlier to very little avail (3). ]
[Shinobu's healing advantage comes in for her, with a 16. The shallow wounds heal over completely, and the deep wounds heal enough so they're only shallow.
The monster cannot dodge (12) away from Rin's knife, and lodges itself there, stuck in the flesh(?) and whatever else is within it, until he pulls it back out again.
Against all odds, Shinobu's attack does land (2), also piercing deep into the monster.
Futaba's attack is incredible, the lacerations cutting easily through the monster's back and chest. Two things drop out of these wounds, hitting the floor with the heavy thunk, thunk of rock.
The monster shrinks in size, now only twice as tall as a human. It's reach has shrunk, and it can no longer attack the party, except Rin, who it dragged close. In a desperation attempt, it slashes at his torso (10).
Shinobu succeeds in blowing up the monster (4). Moonlight spills across the entire room, blinding you all for a moment. You're still hard of hearing, but your eyes work just fine. Where it once stood are now three rocks, lustrous in their glow. The only trace of it is all the damage it's caused to you and to its surroundings.
Futaba can take the stones from the ground with no issue.
While you might not know it at home, here, it's a rare, precious, dangerous stone. Every wizard has heard of it, and knows the curses it brings, even if they've never seen it in person.
Moonstone.
The brown haired young man comes back in, with medical kits and looks very pale looking at the damage that has been done to the group of you.]
[ ok, rin, shinobu is going to try to help and fail. we saw those rolls. somehow, the adrenaline fading after the crow monster bites it combined with her hearing that's half gone make her tired enough to stumble over her invocation.
she turns to the frazzled man with the med kits with a grateful look and reaches for them. ]
If you could lead us to a room to recuperate, I would appreciate it.

That's to dodge. She rolls out of the way and takes a good look at this feathery monster. this is very concerning. ]
What happened to him?
[ she is going to summon her broom and fly on it. it's best to get some distance and observe at first. ]
Don't be too hasty, Okumura-kun!
