[With Futaba’s healing spell, the whole party is free of injuries. Rin's arm looks as it should. However, they do retain faded scars of all the places they were injured.
Up here all you get is moonlight and starlight. It’s deep into the night, there’s no hint of the sunrise approaching as you travel towards the collapsed Central Tower. The cool night wind whipping at your faces however fast you wish to travel.
How high are you flying? Where are you looking? Are you paying attention to the ground beneath you? Only towards the rubble?]
[Asking Rin not to do anything foolheartedly is asking a lot, but he'll try.
He is watching the ground beneath them as they fly though. No need to get jumped by monsters as they fly towards the rubble! But he's also hoping there aren't more monsters and that everyone else is safe, if a little startled by the earthquake.]
thanks to futaba, shinobu is alert now that she's fully healed, so she is looking everywhere as they're flying, on the ground and around, as they get toward the rubble.
she thinks.... if it was a huge research facility that fell, there's got to be a lot of kickback and reactions and all that jazz. ]
[ futaba attenpts to spell her glasses to do something similar to her persona goggles for a map layout and enemy locations. alas the eight means the best she gets one of those maps that won't show up until she's physically standing upon it. very helpful. maybe later we can add cool updates to it.
for now she just hangs back, a few feet above and behind the two of them just to play her usual role of lookout. the dark skies get a dubious squint in between keeping sn eye behind them. no need to be spooked!!! ]
[There's nothing in the air besides them and the occasional insects. Above them, the moon and stars shine. They are the only things illuminating the night.
Around the castle they takeoff from, there are plenty of merchants shops, and housing. The further out they go, the less populated it is. In the direction they're flying off in, once they make it past the city, there's no buildings.
In this direction there is a cemetery that goes a fair ways out. In that cemetery it seems like the soil is beginning to be displaced, as if something is trying to crawl out. A bone skull pierces through the ground, followed by another, and another. Whatever magic research they were trying to do, when the tower fell, the effects spilled out.]
We should still take a closer look to see what's going on. They likely need to be stopped, but we can't know for sure.
[ innocent until proven guilty.... unless you're a demon (in shinobu's book). ]
You can try to destroy a couple to see if it'll work. I'll go down.
[ she drops down from the sky to close in on the cemetery but doesn't get too close to the ground, so if the younger teens want to harry potter or persona or everything it up, they can. ]
[Sweet Rin. Sweet Futaba. Do skeletons look like zombies to you?
Futaba succeeds in charring the skeleton (9), though it is still able to move.
Many more skeletons rising up from their graves, heads and hands breaching the soil. Some are armed with bows, others with swords and spears. Those with bows don't have arrows, they've long since rotted away. There are a lot of skeletons. Skeletons have long since lost their ability to feel pain. They break their own ribs and the ribs of their allies, taking aim and firing them at Rin (9), Shinobu (3), and Futaba (18).
Shinobu is closest to the ground, and a spear bearing skeleton stabs at her (3).]
[Rin rolled a 19 so he is doing some Sweet Broom Moves to avoid those ribs. Get rekt, 'zombies'!
But it looks like fire isn't working. Hmm...]
They're made of bones, maybe dogs can help with this?
[So yeah he's. going to use his magic to try and summon some super fierce doggos to chew up those skeletons! Though with an 8 he gets some fierce warriors in fun size.]
[ the good news is that shinobu manages to evade the skeleton attacks with relative ease. the bad news is that her attempt to telekinesis the spear out of the skeleton's hold does nothing.
she hopes those dogs can actually do something. she'd hate for them to get hurt.
but if magic won't work for her at the moment, she may as well do it the old-fashioned way. she's going to swan dive off the broom and try to disarm a skeleton for a sword (15). ]
[(Mira voice: And you all used your invocations to successfully pull of your magic.)
The five corgis look up at Rin, sitting patiently, tails wagging. They're hanging out, having a good, normal, not surrounded by undead time.
The skeletons don't bother punting any of the dogs. Yet. Their focus remains on the wizards.
Shinobu successfully (12) steals a skeleton's sword away. In reaction, it pulls off one of its arms to start using that as a makeshift weapon. While she's within the reach of several of the melee skeletons, one tries to stab her with a spear (16), the one using its own arm tries to hit her on the head (11), and a sword tries to slash at her (9).
Another rib arrow is headed towards Rin (7), one towards Futaba (16).
The skeletons that would be scattered away by Futaba's wind spell dig their skeleton heels in hard, successfully resisting being blown away (20).
More skeletons are converging on Shinbou's location.]
[I have decided that going to the comment where the spell name is written and copying it down every time I need to use it is Problematic and will now launch a twitter campaign against it.
Rin rolled a 20 so he's just going to duck his head to the side to avoid the rib-arrow while giving his doggos directions.]
Okay! Who's a good boy? Who's a good magical boy? Want a treat? Do you all want a treat???
[He is riling up these dogs as much as he can to get them excited. And then he's pointing to the skeletons.]
Go! Go get the bones! There's your treats!
[Off they go, wagging their little tail nubbins in excitement as they go to bite at the skeletons with an 11.]
[ the spear impales itself into her arm, and as she hisses in pain, it manages to hit her over the head, which itself lends aid in letting another skeleton slash at her back, soaking this very cute white wizard outfit with even more red.
as she tries to gather herself from the successive wounds, she stumbles over the invocation and whatever she was attempting straight up doesn't go through (an attempt at invoking and imitating her abilities from home), and all she can manage is trying to dart her way around the skeletons converging on her to give herself more room to defend herself. ]
[ futaba dodges for her life, but with her arrows in her it just does the damage she avoided. (16). fuckin ow...! her attempt to shout her spell and cast a protego shield goes horrifically poorly and instead of a shield....
well, there's a concussive blast at herself (1). ]
[The corgis get at it! They charge towards (3) the three skeletons attacking Shinobu, biting at their legs (because that's all they can reach). They manage to take one of each of these skeletons' legs away. Now all they've got for limbs are their arms and hands. Because the skeletons are busy dealing with the corgis (6), Shinobu can easily get away from this crowd trying to wrestle back their own bones.
However, another group of skeletons are approaching, reading ribs and making several attacks against Rin (14,12) and Futaba (18,15).
Futaba's force blast knocks her back several meters away from the fight, leaving her out of range of combat.]
[Rin, with his 9 and 3, is clearly too excited by commanding his doggos and he just flat out misses the new group approaching. Time to get skewered twice!]
Shit!
[He doesn't think his knives are going to help much though, so he's going to take his broom and try to use it to hit the skeletons and hopefully at least knock them to pieces? If he can? With his mighty 2. I guess he drew aggro away from Shinobu or something.]
[ thank you, doggos. she loves these dogs. she is going to take this time to try and heal herself, coughing out the invocation (9).
it's not great..... but it's enough that she tries to get back up and try to attack the skeletons again, but she overestimates the weight of the sword somehow, so she fumbles it because i rolled a fucking 1.
[ well, on one hand her concussive blast knocks her the heck out of the way. but on the other hand with both attacks in the middle of it, her landing isn't anywhere near graceful (7).
time to once again!! lay here and contemplate her life!!!! ]
The dogs continue chewing on the skeletons they were originally told to attack. Their mouths bite into skeletons and pull them apart. That's three less skeletons the group need to deal with. Pulling the skeletons apart, or making them less than a half a skeleton seems to dis-animate them.
The new group of skeletons have 4 bows, and a sword, and a lance between them.
Shinobu fumbles and contemplates her bad luck. At least she's not actively bleeding for a moment. Unfortunately, it's a very short moment. The two melee skeletons see fit to attack her, the lance (20) and the sword (17). The lance hits right at her left shoulder, severing just the wrong cluster of nerves. She can no longer feel anything in her left arm.
Rin has two makeshift arrows coming his way (8, 19). The other archers attack where Futaba was.
Futaba is far from the action, and thus has no attacks that can reach her. Does she remember which way the fight was?]
[With a 17 and a 4, Rin dodges the first one but then gets nailed by the second. Ouch. So much for his right arm being better, now he's got an arrow sticking out of his shoulder.
He sees Shinobu struggling over there, and he'll try to call out an order to his doggo army:]
Oi! Help her over there!
[Will the 12 be enough to give a clear command to the summoned corgis? We'll see.
Meanwhile he doesn't want to turn his back on these archers, so he tries again at swatting them with the broom. This time he got a 15 so maybe that will be better? He's seeing that breaking them apart stops them, which is what he's trying to do to these archers.]
[ the lance pierces her left shoulder, and she can no longer feel anything. the pain and the blow makes her stumble back enough that at least the sword shallowly cuts her on her other arm.
she tries to form the words to the invocation to blow up the skeletons to kingdom come, but she can't manage it, from the pain or otherwise, and she has to fall back more.
no subject
Please be careful, you two. I would be distraught if anything happened to either of you.
[ don't be too foolhardy, is what she's trying to say.
But she's also as ready as she'll ever be. Her wounds are all shallow now, so it's fine.
Time to fly to this pile of rubble. ]

I'm ready to kick ass!
