[regardless of where you are in the hotel on this fine thursday, you will find yourself wrapped in shadows suddenly and soon abandoned outside of the hotel. it isn't the city of ahnkeen beyond the excursion doors. instead, you find yourself in line with a handful of skeletons and shadows, moving along in a queue and onto a a ferry. the water beneath you is dark, murky, and hard to see through. the ferry remains docked until the last member boards, and without warning you set sail.
it's early, or maybe it's late? it's difficult to say what time it is when fog seems to settle around you in the crisp, chilly air. hope you brought a jacket.
you have a bit of a journey ahead of you. what would you like to do first on this boat?]
[since it’s Thursday, mikazuki is not in his absolutely terrible poorly done outfit but i really would’ve thought about it
but instead off they go to their funky little boat, and he finds himself admiring the different views (what views there’s only dog) as if this is just a nice scenic little ride.]
Oh my, oh my…
Let us be careful, gentlemen. Might you have items to protect yourself?
[or will jiji have to work to earn his pay
what about the water is there anything to notice on the water]
[ What even is Aikawa's mental state by Thursday this time, I don't even know. Anyway he's in his usual style, metal boots and literally zero skin showing, as usual. He'd be a hit with the Olde European Styles... Black Plague Era.
But even more than anything is just his immediate groan when the shadows dump him here and he's surrounded by bones and shadows. He could pass this off for another terrible nightmare if it weren't for the basically near-random appearance of Dokja and Jiji which means this is probably the Other ThingTM. ]
Nooooooo.
[ He will immediately reach to see if he still has his shit though. Big-ass knife?! ]
[on this nice little scenic ride, they can see a few things! first of all, there is a top deck and a bottom deck of the ferry. currently, they are standing on the bottom deck which is closest to the water. there's nothing too interesting about the water, save for the occasional ripple from the propeller and some fish swimming alongside the ferry. ahead of them, as the fog begins to clear they will start to see the beginnings of a large island. it's not exactly tropical, but they will have to get closer to see.
if they had items on them at the time of their departure, those are with them. so sure, aikawa has his knife.
around the bottom deck, there are a few seats! there are also some supplies such as canteens, rope, flashlights, etc.
[ alas, no furry white nine-tailed fox daemon. which is probably for the better. bottom deck huh... is ty saying we're all bottoms?
Dokja's attention flickers to the island that peeks amongst the fog, only briefly. ]
Looks like we're coming upon an island. [ but some supplies you say... Dokja will definitely try to loot a rope and flashlight if possible. gotta make use of any situation you end up in and all. ]
Fuckin', I guess I'll take some weird survivalist bullshit over butterflies again.
[ Comforted by at least having his knife with him, packing that back into... wherever it is he keeps his stupid knife I think it's a holster on the inside of his jacket.
His deep pockets are your bag now. He will also loot. Rolls of rope, flashlight... anything to start a fire perhaps? Or maybe he will truly have to unga bunga it on the island. 'Course, taking a canteen, shaking it to see if there's anything in there already. ]
[there is nothing to really start a fire! but perhaps when they get to the island they can take a look. there's a little bit of water inside the canteen itself, so they may take that, too. the skeletons and shadows don't mind them looting whatever they want, though they might find a few spare bones just hanging out. don't mind those.
as the ferry approaches the island, the fog clears and it becomes more obvious where they are. it's a large place, full of evergreen trees, walking paths and white buildings with red rooftops. the roads of this island seem to loop around, allowing visitors to walk up the cliffside and disappear further into the island itself. the dock is set fairly far from the town portion of the island itself, but as the ferry stops they'll hear a radio crackle and then an announcement.]
Now arriving...Lotus Island.
[last stop. should they choose to exit the boat, they will find two paths ahead of them. one appears to lead straight ahead toward the town portion, and the other is a staircase of rocks leading up to another path above them.
Assuming we're here for only a day, we should be able to survive well enough with these.
[ BOOOOONE? well if there's a spare bone, guess we take that too. he'll slide his own supplies into his jacket pockets. if only it had its actual inventory usage but they're big enough for rope, a flashlight and a canteen at least. spare bone can go with aikawa.
...huh. buildings. he didn't expect a town portion, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. if there's nothing else to find supply-wise, he'll exit the boat. but stop when they come to look between the two paths. ]
Ideally, the town might be better just to gather some information. It won't really do us any good to just go blindly in whatever this is. What do you two think?
[ He is not optimistic. One day of island survival sounds way too easy. He just wants to lie on the floor of this boat and not even move at all until the place has just had enough with him and dumps him out on the floor of the hotel or something. Unfortunately he is but a slave to higher powers but also he doesn't want to be left alone.
He can carry this bone. He can carry several bones. His clothes are partially made out of bone for some reason, even. More bones. But no yeah seriously, he will hook some rope into his belt loop, keep the canteen in the inside pocket of his jacket, the flashlight in his hand and big ol' bone in his other hand... wow, they're set. ]
'Lotus Island' sounds pretty nice. [ Ngl. ] I ain't wandering off into the creepy dark woods, though. That's asking to get mugged.
[aikawa your bones? it's fine. jiji could have grabbed a burlap sack i forgot to mention but he can also keep his stuff in his sleevies.
anyway...they haven't actually moved yet, but now that they're standing there they will hear the sound of a ferry horn blowing as their ride begins to disappear into the fog across the water. goodbye forever!
the town awaits them, as does the staircase. the fog begins to dissipate, revealing even more buildings, and a giant wooden bulletin board.]
[ jiji's sleeves inventory... glad that aikawa is all bone'd up.
oh, well, BYE SHIP I GUESS. Dokja watches it leave with a look that says "i honestly don't know what i expected." ]
You can still get mugged in a town. [ NOBODY IS STOPPING THESE TOWNSFOLK(?) FROM TRYING TO MUG THEM. however, Dokja will move toward the wooden bulletin board the moment he spots it. what are your secrets? ]
We may need to backtrack for the staircase later if that's where we're meant to go. Let's see, what do we have here..
Let us hope the locals are friendly, if there are any. Ha ha ha.
[but jiji will put. most of his stuff in the sack but the rest go in his sleeves because it’s fucking funny
off they go!! he will just begin to wander off in the direction of the buildings, follow if you’d like. are there any other sounds of life or is it abandoned]
[ He is the booooone. Someone x-ray him, the results will be funny, I promise. Aikawa just stares off at the boat wistfully like 'damn... I really should've just stayed on there...' except who the fuck knows, maybe the boat's gonna sink in half an hour and life's gonna suck in a different way. ]
I know my way around a shitty town! Dark woods are a different story. There might be ghosts there.
[ He is anti-mug as long as the biome suits him, apparently. But he will kinda toddle after the two of them, using his height to his advantage I suppose to look around at the town itself. Any inhabitants? ]
[the further they walk, it will soon become extremely obvious to them that the town is abandoned. there are no signs of life. some of the buildings appear to be open, but others are locked and boarded up. of the ones they can see, they will recognize what appears to be a convenience store, a post office, and in the distance a radio tower which aikawa can see on account of being tall.
as they approach the bulletin board, they will find a few things:
-a map! this map shows the entire layout of lotus island despite the wear and tear of the map itself. perhaps they would like to review it. -old flyers advertising fun activities such as beach bonfires, nature hikes, and cave spelunking. -three portable radios that look similar to this hanging from the bottom. -missing persons posters of aruji, biyoo, and nikaido.]
[ damb, this bich empty.... from what he's gathered from his brief glance around. he's kidding, of course. there may not be ghosts. maybe. he'll focus more on looking up the bulletin board.
he'll take in the appearance of the map but, honestly he might just try and take it for themselves. once they're done looking at it and checking it out of course. is this a resort island?? ]
Some radios. We should each take one, just on the chance we get.. separated...
[ those missing persons posters sure do get his attention at the end. thanks, he hates this specifically. but he'll fiddle with the radios for a moment, do these turn on? does it have any indication of how much battery is left? ]
[mikazuki will spare a glance to the radios and honestly, he knows so little about them he’ll just let kdj fiddle as he pleases. the missing persons flyer similarly pull a rueful quirk of his lips before he continues along ]
I shall only expect such spirits if those who once dwelled here left regrets - but perhaps I can have a chat with them, ha ha ha.
[you know, spirit to spirit and all that.
but to try to answer that question jiji will wander into the post office? what’s it like inside. if there’s any mail left lying around, or behind the counter, he will take a peek.]
[ Grumbled. He would like there to not be ghosts, actually. He is looking around! What is the approximate vibes / era of this town, is it like... smalltown, old wooden buildings, small local store type of thing? Or is it actually more modern, like the convenience store is a Seven Eleven, and the Radio Tower looks more like it's from a metropolis rather than something from Firewatch, sort of deal? ]
I'd ask if we can just take them but. You know. I assume it's for us.
[ Nearing deadpan delivery as he just takes the radio. Item obtained, he sticks it in his jacket pocket.
He does glance at the missing persons posters but not for long, seemingly disinterested in it. Stares off into the sea............. is there anything out there? ]
[it's not quite a resort island. if they look at the map, they will see it looks like this, please ignore the horribly shooped in title i'm doing my best. anyway.
the radios turn on! it seems like they have full charge, too, but right now all that plays is static.
the town itself is smalltown, local, wooden. it looks fairly old and abandoned for the most part, worn by weather and time itself. off in the sea...there is more fog.
jiji wanders to the post office and is immediately greeted by an absolutely terrible amount of dust! there are a few piles of mail, along with those same missing posters and what looks like a few packages. the tape is peeling, and the names have been worn away, but they are there. the post office doesn't seem like it's been operational for a while actually, but jiji can break the law and look at them if he wants.]
[ nice, full charge. he'll turn it off and set his aside in his pocket, but the other old man left without his sir? anyways, can Dokja go ahead and just take the map with them? this place is abandoned anyways, nobody else needs this smh.
that's a lot of fog though. however, he can't see anything else than that from his own viewpoint so he'll go and wander in the direction that jiji went. abandoned post office huh, what can go wrong? PAPER CUTS? ]
Mikazuki Munechika. [ first a peek, just to check-in with the sword man. ] Find anything?
mikazuki will be opening the packages - tho he will manage the bare minimum decency and say:] Please excuse us - if we might return these to their rightful owner, we will.
[in case any ghosts are listening…
anyway what’s inside
at that moment he calls back to kdj]
Some packages… I believe there is a merchant’s store nearby.
[ Nothing but fog............... as opposed to nothing but net. Aikawa will turn back around then, pointing towards the convenience store yeah the same one Mikazuki is talking about. ]
It's a convenience store. Probably. Kinda ratty, but maybe there's extra stuff in there if we gotta go hiking.
[ Also before Dokja maybe-takes the map, he will also have a looksy at this so he can read the fine print. ]
'Cause based on that, I think we gotta head over to that tower -- looks like a radio tower to me.
[ He points in a direction. Idk if these two can see it or if it's just him I guess you will just have to trust him. ]
[it is possible they see the tip of the tower but they will have to walk toward it, yeah. at least on the map they can see where it is in relation to things.
kim dokja can take the map! granted, it tears a little since he has to pull it from the bulletin board, but there is a map now.
inside the post office, jiji can start being nosy and looking through a few packages. he will open the first and find a fashionable green hat. another box reveals a beautiful set of paints. a third box reveals a black choker with a silver ring dangling from it!
the fourth box begins to move on its own. it just. starts wandering away. goodbye?]
