[ well, it's a good thing they looted some flashlights. which.. hopefully, has some battery in them, so Dokja will try and turn his own on to get a better view of the cavern.
fate is decided by a chicken... who could have done this. ]
We probably want to go up. [ rather than the.. paths below. maybe. this is not what he was expecting when they came in here, honestly.
where did poor bobchansan run into in here. where are the sounds of le clucking. ]
[ Internal dialogue: 'Is this where I'm at? Having my life choices dictated by a chicken?'
When he's in a better state, he'll find this way funnier. Right now though, he's half-spaced out, somewhat absentmindedly fiddling with the radio to try to keep the signal. Do tell us more about these drowned bodies, O Gamemaster Ty. ]
You guys can go get your chicken, I can go see what the light's about and come running back up the path.
[ Hopefully it emerges out into some nouveau riche weirdo's patio where he is gazing out wistfully under the judgmental eyes of T.J. Eckleburg. ]
bobchansan is clucking her way along a path heading upward, but she's not going so far that jiji can't keep up with her. the batteries in the flashlight are weak, but it's enough to shed a small amount of light so they can see where they're going. the cave begins to grow in size, wider and taller as they walk. aikawa is still fiddling with the radio, but instead of hearing more about these drowning bodies, the radio begins to make a noise.
the green light grows brighter, filling the entire cave and giving them a more clear image of their surroundings. the air around them seems to pulsate with every screech from the radio, red lights appearing above their heads. static-y electric blue flies overhead, beginning to form a shape. do any of them notice? great question.]
[ Dokja keeps his attention ahead, keeping the weak light on where they're going. don't need a misstep to happen and blindly stumble about in the dark.
but then that? green light? glows brighter? and honestly, it's a bit hard not to notice the red light above when it clashes with that green light. ]
What.. [ um. yeah. Dokja will notice those flies (???) and shine his flashlight on them. A SHAPE....?
someone is tempted to make a penis joke. it's not me. i refuse to scoop to that level but also ]
anyway mikazuki has this chicken now, and he will pat pat her head thoughtfully. he glances over at the radio and hums thoughtfully, wondering if that's ominous or something! maybe it is!]
It seems to be having quite a struggle...
[what does it smell like in here. like cave? ink? water?]
[ SAYS THIS HERE TOO FOR POSTERITY BUT IT'S A GREAT GATSBY REFERENCE... OK...
But anyway lovely, he'll listen to this white noise that the radio is making, still continuing to fiddle around just in case to see if he can't get a consistent signal as he I GUESS GOES DOWNWARDS I ASSUME ALONE since the other two got the chicken back. The lights don't bother him, which is great enough, but he'll also click on a flashlight and look at this and where it's maybe coming from. ]
[it smells like cave water and electricity, like the kind of smell you'd get right before a big lightning storm. as aikawa fiddles with the radio, the blue lines begin to connect together to form a large lotus flower, petals falling open and vibrating with the intensity of a livewire. even though he's separating from the other two, the light flashes in the cave and soon they hear even louder buzzing before there's a static crackle, pop, and bang as the flower explodes.
petals burst, falling gently and roping around the three of them regardless of their position in the cave. however, they don't have time to speak to each other before they feel a bolt of white-hot light run through them and they're ejected from the cave.
kim dokja finds himself wading in a shallow lake in front of a large mansion.
mikazuki finds himself on a sandy beach with bobchansan.
aikawa finds himself in the middle of the forest.
they are alone and cut off from one another, though they do each have a radio. all three of them also seem to have been mildly burned from the shock. oops.
maybe the other two should have grabbed a map after all?]
[ but oop, that mild burn. i mean, he's gone through worse, nothing like melting into crisp from a dragon's fire breath but ow nevertheless. ]
So much for not splitting up.... [ looking around and... well, gonna start with waddling out of this water with a squint at the mansion. it's a good thing he does have a map where the hell is this on the map, Dokja will look at it as he approaches the mansion.
how's this mansion looking... just as abandoned and creepy as the previous buildings? ]
[IS BOBCHANSAN OKAY? IS BOBCHANSAN OKAY??????? first thing jiji checks,]
He'd never forgive me...
[FRIED CHICKEN
anyway aside from that, what else is the beach like! any trails in the sand? anything on the ocean horizon? looking more inland, is it a bunch of trees or is it more like a little coast town. how inhabited is it.
mikazuki will fiddle with the radio again to see if it'll tell him any secrets]
[ Rolls moderately, tchs. I guess he just stumbles out to wherever this is instead of landing face-down. That being said... ]
Owww...! What the fuck!
[ There could be worse injuries but he shakes his head like a dog to try to clear it of ELECTRIC SHOCK WOES. Ouchies. A soft wheeze, taking off his mask where nobody can see him to wipe his face and check everything's in order, then get his head back in the game (ha ha). Except. ]
Where the fuck.
[ ...
Well, there isn't much he can gain from standing here, so he picks a direction and just starts walking. What's this forest like? Can he hear anything? Any lights, any sounds, a soft blow of wind? ]
[with their mild burns in-tact, the three of them begin on their own little quests. for kdj, who has a map, he will get the sense that he is all the way to the east of the map. if he jumped into the water, he would essentially float away from the island. goodbye.
but as he approaches the mansion he will get the sense that it's less creepy and abandoned and more modern, pristine, something to display and behold. the doors are wide open, gently inviting him in.
the beach has a lot of footprints, strangely enough. when jiji checks on bobchansan, the chicken is the only one who didn't get fried and she clucks in her confusion. me too bobchansan. out on the ocean horizon, there appears to be even more fog. it's a little coast, the beach itself flanked by rocky cliffs, caves, and a few wooden stairs and docks. fiddling with the radio though, he will hear something new.]
"There is no mercy, only justice."
[so that's nice. the beach appears to be a long sandy walk, but he can begin to wander if he would like.
meanwhile in the forest, aikawa is surrounded by thick, tall trees. it's fairly quiet, the fog chilly and damp. but as he begins walking, he will hear the sound of footsteps following after him from both his left and his right hidden in the trees.]
[ well it's a good thing he didn't float away from the island god damn also me like: where are we on the map ty: east me, with tears in my eyes and not knowing my directions: oh okay
it's probably not the best idea to go strolling in but. he may as well check it out. he'll set aside his items he had back into his totebag, before pulling out his own radio. is there a way to communicate with the other radios? who knows, but he may as well have it running in the background just in case.
he'll fiddle with it in the meantime as he makes his way inside the mansion. what we got here! i'm home!! ]
[excellent. fried chicken timeline averted. mikazuki will give the chicken a pet pet and laughs to himself as he begins to walk along.]
Ha ha ha... and whose justice?
[don't talk back to the radio, old man. but if there's a lot of footprints are there like. three sets. are they their own footprints. is jiji back at the beginning i don't remember if the ferry dropped them off on the beach.
[you are all the way in the bottom right of the map zetsu and now kdj is walking up to the mansion. as he enters, everything from the outside world goes extremely quiet. there are white walls and large windows, tile floors and pristine displays. art hangs on the walls, and pottery, statues and other such items sit on their display mounts through the hallway. there is a set of stairs at the end of the hall, along with two wings splitting off to other portions of the house.
as he walks and fiddles with the radio, he will find that he can't communicate with anyone, but he will hear something come through.]
"Known as the Mikazuki Munechika, this special sword was crafted by the legendary Sanjo Munechika. He was considered one of Japan’s most skilled swordsmiths in the Heian period (794 to 1185 CE). Munechika was so fond of his creation that he attached his name to it—in addition to the term mikazuki, which is the Japanese word for “crescent moon.”
[out on the beach, moon and chicken will walk along the sand. the fog begins to part as a full moon shines overhead. there are three sets of footprints, but it's hard to discern if they are their own or not. he follows, heading down the beach and approaching what looks like a recently put-out bonfire. the wooden stairs are ahead of him, along with a small fenced-off area. the footsteps appear to have gone behind this fence though. will the old man follow, or will he safely take the stairs?
aikawa, meanwhile, in the forest, has a bone.]
"Knock knock."
[it's a feminine voice somewhere behind him, but the footsteps stop at least? that's not how the joke goes, is it?
he doesn't see anything though. just the slowly encroaching fog.]
[ (zetsu voice) thank you ty i owe you my life. but also we are farther from radio tower? damn
Dokja spends a moment just looking around, squinting at the white walls and large windows but white doesn't necessarily scream danger. a specific kind of danger maybe, but he brushes it off. look at all this art... either someone is a collector or just really enjoys art galleries to have one of their own.
when the radio spews out that information, Dokja can't help but chuckle to himself. after all, he has seen a replica of the sword in mention before. ]
I did obtain a replica in a previous Scenario, though it doesn't live up to the real thing of course.
[ thanks for the jiji lore that he remembers reading up on plenty of times before. "i hate fiction" me too ty. anyways, Dokja will head up the stairs while glancing at the art pieces before heading along the first wing? the most left one? what else do we have here. ]
just kidding. jiji doesn't spit. he also doesn't care about doing things safely now that they're all split up! he's going to follow the footprints with his chicken
how recently put out was the campfire though? he will just walk a little more quickly to try to catch up with whoever left it, listening closely for either more radio communication or any other signs of life]
[ He already said 'who's there' so repeating himself seems redundant. He'll keep slowly walking in a direction, sticking one hand into his pocket as he does, the other one adjusting its grip on the flashlight. Since there is apparently nothing other than fog he will just keep heading along for now. ]
[you are farther from the radio tower yeah. for a reference of where you are in relation to the tower, jiji is a little further than kdj, and aikawa is way across the map at a higher elevation. yay!
kdj learns nothing he didn't already know, and as he talks to himself and begins to head upstairs he will find that the radio continues to talk.]
"In the beginning of his tale, the greatest motivation that Dokja had was reading. Given it was the sole reason he was able to live on. It motivated him to continue to live day by day, looking forward to the new chapter in his favorite story. Finding a simple yet fulfilling happiness that gave meaning to him in what he saw to be a dark cruel world. However, towards the end it was for the sake of his End- his conclusion, that drove him to reach his goals. To reach that End, Dokja was willing to do whatever was necessary to obtain it."
[portraits hang on the walls of the first wing, variousimages and poses. as dokja walks though, he will get the sense he is being watched as well.
jiji, on the beach, decides that safety is for chumps. the campfire was put out really recently! like. extremely. there is still some smoke in the air. as he follows the footsteps he will have to figure out how to scale the fence or get through it, but the radio will flicker in static, providing him with another tidbit.]
"I know who I am, and I know who you are, and nothing else makes a difference."
[the sand shifts beneath his feet, but he will hear the sound of laughter ahead of him.
aikawa...picked a very, very terrible phrase for this actually, damn, because after a few moments a potentially familiar voice will laugh instead.]
"Thanks for the invite!"
[it's a warm, strange feeling, almost comforting for a moment as the fog rolls in and seeps its way under his mask. it invades his eyes, his nose, his mouth, and soon it settles around his brain as he feels himself lose control of his body. the ghost settles in, comfortably winding its way around the crevices of aikawa's brain before he feels himself begin to walk further into the forest, dropping his flashlight.]
[ Alright radio, tell him about his life story. That's fine. Dokja at least seems mostly unbothered, collectively walking along though he does glance at the portraits as he passes them. ]
I was.
[ And he has done everything necessary to obtain it. Who knows why he's bothering to reply. But it's true, he has obtained the End he wants. But now he's dragged into this hostage situation and, until he can return with them- he can't return to that End.
Can he get a general feel of where he's being watched? From the end of this wing? Back where he came? Or is it just in general all around. He will continue down the wing in the meantime. ]
[jiji's answer to every fence and every obstacle that says he's Not Allowed is always just. to simply brute force it. so he will tuck bobchansan against him with his non-dominant arm, and then draw his sword with the other like so:
and he's just. he's just going to slice the fence at its weakest point of the latch to break it and let him in! let him in!!!
[ WELL YOU KNOW WHAT. I’m just that noot noot penguin. This may as well happen.
He kinda expected this, he had a feeling it’d be like this. But it’s not so different from his dreams, right? He can only play along with it, and at least for a little while, he can let it be. Who’s gonna say no to even a few minutes of comfort and warmth.
'Fuck this.'
He lets it happen, let whatever this is take him through the motions. I am in your hands now Ty, where is he going. ]
[very glad that kdj is just kind of narrating his own life as he goes along. me as well. the portraits continue portraying different events and different images he will find familiar, but as he walks he will get the sense it is all around. lights flash from both sides, and before he reaches the end of the hall he finds himself crashing into an invisible barrier. it feels like cool glass, smooth and see-through. as he looks around though, he will find himself face to face with several pairs of eyes. all eyes are watching him, waiting with baited breath, cameras flashing as they take in his appearance.]
"Upon meeting, Dokja is quite mostly polite, usually in a friendly enough manner with most new acquaintances. He tries not to deeply trust everyone so easily, however, he still proves to be kind and a caring guy for the most part. Unless of course someone has an irking personality or attitude that has him treating them notably differently. Children, on the other hand, get a softer side out of him."
[his arms begin to move, positioning themselves to be loose at his sides as he's forced to stand upright. lights continue to flash in his face as people admire him from afar.
the fence on the beach is now busted. it's just gone. you really did not have to do this to the poor fence, but there it goes. jiji and bobchansan find themselves running around to the other side of a large cave, heading across the sand and following the sound of laughter. it seems to disappear right as the footsteps stop though. grandpa is alone, but his radio crackles helpfully.]
"I thought I could become real friends with you." "I don't have any memories of my past...and my face looks like this...even thought you don't know what kind of a human I am, are you really fine with that?" "What about you? I'm - isn't that a dealbreaker?" - - "So if you can promise me you won't use your magic -"
[the radio transmission stops. the laughter is gone, and the fog settles around him. he can turn back the way he came, or he can actually keep walking? where will he go?
aikawa meanwhile has no control of the situation anymore and begins plodding his way through the forest. he begins to walk ahead, ignoring some of the tree branches that slap him in the face and brush against his arms. he begins walking down a slope, and if he's not careful he will slip and fall. i will let you roll for damage, but as he hits the bottom of the slope he finds himself next to a river. he is also still very far away from the other two because this is just how this is going now.
he could try to negotiate with his ghost if he wants, or he can continue to settle. you know. as you do.]
[ the sudden crash into an invisible barrier gets a quiet yelp from him. it does enough force that he stumbles and nearly falls completely on his rear. jeez, figured whatever is in control would put an invisible barrier here, Dokja just squints at it before he turns and
freezes.
all the eyes watching him, his control cracks just a bit, but it's the sight of those camera flashes that have him almost completely frozen. almost, were it not for the tremble that briefly rocks through his body. most of his life growing up, as a child, he had been hounded by cameras. paparazzi that had no care for the comfort and well-being of a child. all they cared about was whatever gossip they could get out of him.
"You're that murderer's son, aren't you?"
ah. he feels a distant taste of bile in the back of his throat. the transmission of his personality, that's what it is, isn't it? instinctively he wants to cover parts of his face but finds his arms at his side, a click of his teeth sounding as he's forced to face the cameras.
this is actually more of a hell than most situations he could end up in. he would, quite frankly, rather be stabbed in the gut than face these flashing camera lights. ]
And here is where it messes with my head. [ HE'S SO TIRED ALREADY. ]
