[ good morning! when emet rings the bell, out comes aquila. they no longer have any monstery features, and are adjusting their gloves as they step out of the portal. ]

Just to speak, I suppose. I'm not yet finished with your task, but it is a work in progress.

and as they head through the door with emet, they end up... by the lazy river!

seems like a good enough place. aquila puts their hands on their hips and leans backwards, like they're surveying. ]

... Place's huge for a school.

It certainly doesn't look like any sort of academic institution I am familiar with. What is the purpose of this?

as the stardust clears on the vision of the world from before - that magical sort of emptiness, the growing dread and despair through the little bird's talk, the reactions of the people around them, aquila seems... surprised, at first, shoulders hunched up.

they're silent for a long moment before they relax again, rolling their shoulders back and shaking their head, enough that the veil moves with the motion, like they could clear it free of their vision.

there's a beat. ]

Is - do you remember that?

[his voice is quieter, at that. tense.]

It is what I recall before being brought here. We should be able to allow our-- future collaborator to escape, but whether we shall do so--

There will not be much time, before the process completes.

[ hm.

yikes! ]

... And then - [ a pause. they stop, take a breath. ] ... The girl, she'll destroy mankind?

No. She will destroy our very world.

The Final Days-- it is all because of her. Her and her sisters. The dynamis they wield.

[ they're quiet for a moment, pushing their hands into their pockets. ]

... Do you think it's inevitable?

It seems as if it is so.

[still quiet, his voice lower in tone.]

...we've no control in Ktisis Hyperboreia, no way to disrupt Kairos' processes. Meteion has already fled to join her sisters. Even should we escape with our memories-

Zodiark's summoning was the only way we could protect our star from their song, and I do not know if that would change even if we retained our memories of the calamity's cause.

[ an inevitable fate, and the destruction of a world. there's a lot in here they don't really understand, but, they do seem deeply troubled; they listen to everything emet-selch says, letting the silence stretch between the two of them for a long moment

and after a moment, they shift, leaning over to press their arm against his, gently. ]

[he's clearly tense, when they lean against him. it's-- he tries to think there must still be a way, but...

he doesn't see what it would be, now. it was easier before. before they knew the true cause and before hermes betrayed them before his eyes, allowing it to begin. her escape will be the start of the end.

the start of his own inevitable descent, from what he's been told. that future self of his that other people know, who certainly exists.]

[ they just stay like that for a moment - they're a little tense too. maybe with worry, or maybe something different. it's hard to say.

Fate can be kind of a bitch. [ is their quiet response, eventually. ] I know.

I think I can understand, [he says, eventually,] why it is not always meant to be known.

[if there's no changing it, then knowing the future will be terrible is--

[ ... they shift a little, to pull back. ]

[his arm shifts slightly in turn, when they pull back, like he wants to reach out, but. he lets them move.]

...so it is.

[ ah. well! they stop when he shifts, so. we are here now, in touch limbo. ]

Sure it doesn't help people here knew you from the future, either.

[his expression twists a little, at the mention of his future self.]

No, it does not. It lends all the more legitimacy to that future-- to my future.
