[ Emet-Selch walks out into this shabby town. Nearby, he can see a sign and it reads, very simply, γBERITHγ. He sees no sign of life, though it seems less because of abandonment, and more because... well, he sees it's very obvious that wherever this is, it is an outright shitty place to live. The houses are decrepit, walls full of holes, rats rummaging around eating whatever they can get their hands on... which, before his very eyes, he can see an uncomfortably large cockroach suddenly pounce and clutch onto the rat, eating it alive.
Hm. If there are people here, they certainly mind their own business, 100%.
There's a bus stop at the very end of the place, if he wants to try to just leave this place behind. On the horizon, he can see woods, and in the even farther distance, a bigger city. ]
Edited (idk why but dw isn't letting me put his whole name in there so you're just emet period now) 2022-06-14 04:28 (UTC)
he wrinkles his nose at how gross this place seems, giving the cockraoach a wide berth. noooo thank you! nope!
on inspecting the town, does it appear it might have either a school or a hospital? he notes the location of the bus stop, but he lingers around the town first to ensure he's not about to just wander the fuck off from wherever his companions may have ended up.]
[ The town itself seems to lack a school, and also lack a hospital. It is quite scattered and far away from larger city luxuries. If there is some kind of form of hospital somewhere around here, it's likely to be an in-house, Just Trust The Man type of thing. Berith has an onsen though. Does Emet-Selch just want to hang around taking a bath? I cannot stop this from happening.
He sees no hide nor hair of what could be Joonghyuk nor Dimitri. The windows here are dark and reflect things or are transparent in a more normal fashion, though he might see brief eyes watching him if he glances towards one. It disappears fast enough. ]
well. there seems to be nothing standing out here, so he's going to head back over to the bus stop! it's sufficiently creepy here for him to have decided he's done with the place, and he ought to attempt to reconnect with them. likely best to try to make it to the larger city.]
[ Emet-Selch, having money: fuck them poor neighbourhoods
But no, that's understandable. The gazes he feels are wary... and if anything, scared, or envious, actually. Someone dressed so bizarrely, head held high, it perhaps takes a certain kind of person to be like that in this world.
He can hang around the bus stop for a while, and eventually one will come. It's a dingy old thing, old-fashioned, and the bus-driver is a portly man with a mask over his head who doesn't even bother to look at Emet-Selch beyond a brief, sidelong glance, and a 'tight fit, pray the bus stays empty, fella' comment thrown at him. They don't seem particularly concerned with him being 9 feet tall. ]
[there's no need to be rude to this driver. he gives the man a nod as he finds a place to squeeze onto the bus and settles into place, prepared to wait through this trip.]
[ Emet-Selch gets a perfectly bumpy, bizarre little trip. It's like a Ghibli movie travel clip except much worse. They drive through these empty roads, through a grimdark forest full of bats that are at least 50 times larger than they should legally allowed to be, another even shittier city full of scrawny men who look at the bus pass, red crosses over their bloodshot eyes, watching.
Eventually, the bus driver makes conversation, after it becomes evident that there's not gonna be anyone else coming onto the bus. He adjusts his rearview mirror, looking at Emet. ]
"Don't mind 'em... heh. They'll look at anyone who looks like they have any coin in their wallet like the starvin', rabid hyenas they are... Least I have a job. Borin' one, but it pays.
Empty day. The entire place's got the day off, 'cause it's festival night. Noticed you're not wearing a mask. Got one?"
[ Dimitri makes his way out into the festival! Posters line the wall to an almost obnoxious degree, all emphasizing the importance of this event. The smell of festival food wafts on the air, perfectly and normally delectable.
He seems to be on the outskirts of the big special event, seeing faceless people roam about. Still a little creepy, but probably miles better than whatever he just went through minutes ago. What does he want to do first? ]
[ Compared to a blood-stained school where he nearly got strangled by a corpse? This is less of an immediate threat, yes. He's been mauled on these adventures enough times that he's still on-guard, but... ]
What on earth?
[ What is happening. To go from eerie emptiness to such a lively atmosphere is a bit of a shock. He walks in a little further in to question some festival-goers. ]
Pardon me, but... [ the fuck? ] What are all these festivities for?
[ Some weird, masked person turns to look at Dimitri. ]
"Huh? The hell you mean 'what are all these for' -- it's the damned Blue Night, kiddo! You too young for this? Homeschooled? They never taught you this shit? Go back and go home if you don't even have an idea, jeez..."
[ Okay, rude. ]

[ Help it's because so many people in the Sorcerers' World are fucking huge and built like bricks for no reason so Dimitri looks like a kid compared to them.
But anyway, yes! There are various entertainers around, food stalls, all kinds of things. It really does seem to be an amusement park slash festival in full swing. Everyone has masks though, unlike Dimitri.
The posters advertise and emphasise heavily that the entire event is hosted by the En Family, who have working arrangements with the devils. Partnership will begin soon, and there are heavy reminders to make sure you get it done before the Blue Night ends to renew your partnership contracts. Head on over to the Devil Cabin with your partner of choice.
And of course, there's several warnings stating that you should be careful and respectful of devils at all costs. ]
[ Honestly, he is a child, he deserves this. He's also definitely not used to people being so regularly massive that he's dwarfed over.
But that's not really the intimidating part—he knows so little of what he's meant to do here, and there's no sign of either location that the other two were at, so he'll have to keep moving, and figure it out as he goes along.
Amongst the stalls, he'll look for a mask to help fit in. And maybe see if there's a vendor that won't tell him to go home because it's late :/// ]
[ Dimitri may find a lot of very shitty looking, clearly handmade masks in a couple of stalls. The vendors snicker at him as he passes, though it's not to make fun of him for being small. ]
"What, got your mask robbed or something? Don't wanna be caught like that on Blue Night, kid..."
[ He stops to speak to the vendor as he peruses his shitty masks. And Dimitri's not great at lying, so he just attempts a version of the truth less insane than, 'I'm from another dimension and I'm not certain if you even exist or are just a figment of sadistic imagination from the murder exercise I'm a part of.' ]
I'm afraid I've traveled from some distance away.
[ to put it lightly. ]
So I've never attended Blue Night before. Still finding my bearings, and, ah... [ gestures at masks. cultural garb? nailed it. ]
[ Why is Hei doing this to me. Anyway Joonghyuk will get out of the hospital, and find himself on the streets of the grimdark city he saw earlier. The lights are flickering low around the hospital building itself, but like he saw from above, the rest of the city seems awfully dark. He hears rolling thunder, moisture thick in the air.
The street with the lamps is still there. Or he can ratshake his meatbag like it's a godawful 8-ball if he wishes. ]
[ Meatbag tumbles out of his home. Joonghyuk will realise it is some weird old man in a bag, just normal things. But probably the worse and way more concerning part is the fact that he is chonked!!!!!!!. Seriously, the dude is literally vivisected into pieces and based on how much gusto he's been swearing out YJH, is perfectly alive despite it. There is a flurry of curses and screaming as he's dumped out unceremoniously onto the ground, clearly in massive pain.
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT FOR?! PIECE OF FUCKIN' -- SHIT! FUCK! I'M SERIOUSLY NOT TELLING YOU SHIT, FUCK!!!
[ He is already literally in pieces, his life could not possibly get worse. He really wishes Joonghyuk would have just thrown him in the fire and called him a day, but no.
MY ASS?! YOU THREW OUT MY LITERAL ASS LIKE YOU WEREN'T GONNA LEAVE IT FED TO THE ANIMALS WITHOUT THE REST OF ME ANYWAY? FUCK YOU, I GOT NO MORE INFORMATION TO GIVE YOU, YOU SHITTY SORCERER! AT LEAST I'LL BE DEAD ONCE THE RATS EAT ME...
[ Throws another chunk out, but more of a baseball throw over the city. I guess this will be a foot. Please somehow have it land wherever Dimitri is. ]
Reconsider. There may be a doctor or a healer that can return you to how you were if they have most of your body.
HEH HEH HEH... FAT CHANCE... THE HEALER WORKS WITH THE GUY THAT DID THIS TO ME, YOU KNOW...? AND THEY DUMPED ME, HERE, IN THIS SHITTY HOLE... I'VE GOT NOTHING LEFT TO GIVE. I'VE GOT NOTHING FOR YA.

I believe there is nothing wrong with such work. After all, none would make this journey otherwise.
[you are an essential employee, mister bus driver...!]
But I haven't, no. Only in the makeshift sense.
