[ Alas, wrong version of him to jump right to stabbing.
The devil acts almost like a hound that's trying to sniff him out; Dimitri stands his ground in the process, and there is a moment's pause when he's finally beckoned.
This is probably not attention he wants, but there's not any avoiding it now. So he approaches carefully, keeping some distance. He can't feign fearful respect, but he does force himself to bow his head in greeting, polite. ]
[ It seems quite satisfied with a polite little bow, actually. Grinning, showing rows of dirty, sharp teeth. ]
NOT ME, NOT REALLY... BUT I KNOW SOMEONE WHO DOES. [ It points towards the Devil Cabin. ] I'M HERE TO TELL YOU TO, AS THEY SAY, GET YOUR ASS OVER THERE.
[ He has to work very hard not to make a face. Dimitri is garbage at both lying and masking his feelings, but he manages to sound neutral. Not reverent, or fearful, but good enough.
He casts a look at the cabin again. ]
...I have a partner. [ he? does not know what this means? but it's safer to have one apparently ] They must be delayed.
[ He still has no idea where the other two are, but it really didn't sound like they were in a cabin full of devils. ] I thought to wait for them, first.
[ This is really valid of Dimitri, it's hard not to make a face when some 8 foot tall... creature... is clearly laughing at you. It is definitely making fun of you, because devils are mean. ]
THE ANGRY ONE, OR THE BIG ONE, DO YOU MEAN? DO YOU INTEND TO WAIT FOR THEM?
[ It knows, apparently. ]
IT WOULD BE A LOT FASTER IF YOU JUST KNOCKED SOME GUY OUT.
[ Not necessarily the solution, but the solution the devil seems to offer. It picks at your lettuce mask. Nice drip. ]
[ Devils are rude and need to learn personal space. He bristles, and the stupid lettuce mask does not hide that very well, brows furrowed and voice stern. ]
I am not here to force anyone into anything.
[ But how does this demon know about the other two? Actually, even before that, how does it know to pick Dimitri out of the crowd? ]
[ He hates looking at its stupid smile and listening to its mockery, but there's a warning in its words, too. So they only have the rest of this Blue Night to escape...
He bites back the urge to fight the devil, looking around instead for the other two in the crowd. ]
I've no patience left to be entertainment for anyone.
[ He's tired of their lives, their suffering being reduced to nothing but a pastime for others. ]
And don't waste your time with provocations. I won't leave the others. [ He's not going to club some poor rando over the head and drag them to the cabin, either. ]
[ He really looks like he's about to stab this devil for using his 'nickname.' It really seems like the sort of person who deserves to be dead, actually?
Unfortunately though, it's not wrong. Dimitri is a stubborn, pig-headed fool. ]
To hell with you and your luck.
[ But at least now he knows where the other two went. He scowls and turns on his heel without sharing any thanks, veneer of politeness lost. Now he's dipping into the crowds to investigate the festival some more... any giants in sight? Angry men carrying meat bags? ]
[ The devil seems quite amused to hear that, actually. It will be looking forward to the conclusion of your dream.
Fortunately for Dimitri, it's kind of hard to miss this. So he will most certainly hear that, coming from some distance behind him in the main hubbub of the crowd. ]
The sooner he can find Emet-Selch, the sooner they can rendezvous with Joonghyuk. So he quickly leaves the Actual devil behind to dart ahead, hurrying to where Emet is drawing everyone in the world's attention. ]
[ Security is in fact mad at Emet-Selch. There'll be these masked security guards, very similar to the one at the mansion except dressed in white, kinda running around....... with guns. They're in a goddamn sorcerer world and they use guns here sometimes. It's fine. They're actually horse tranqs, not bullets.
[ Dimitri will be a whole salad by the end of this trip.
Well there's an entire line waiting but it's not very long. I assume you're just going to cut in because fuck them people and because you have security on your tail? ]
[ Yeah, sorry, they're cutting ahead. He does not think the devils care too much about decorum in this case. ]
...Security?
[ He wasn't even aware he needed an invitation to be here, help. That said, he is cutting past everyone with a 'pardon' here and there until they can speak to the devils who are waiting for pairs to take to the cabin. ]
[ In Dimitri's defense, he showed up right into the Blue Night so he didn't have to go through a check at all. Emet-Selch, on the other hand, busted his ass running over here.
But sure, here you are! And the devils will just look at them for a moment, but they clearly don't care about you cutting the line, and possibly even think it's quite funny. They will carry Dimitri by the scruff of his jacket like he's a rat, and Emet-Selch... they look at him like he's an offense, before deciding to go with the Fireman's Carry. You do not get a say in this.
Into the creepy Devil Cabin you go, where you will be greeted by a dim and dark room -- the inside is a lot more spacious than the outside would lead you to believe. It's almost as if the space adjusts to fit you, especially Emet-Selch, since the ceiling becomes plenty tall enough for him. No worries about feeling squished in the cabin or crushing Dimitri here.
There is a long table with two trays, holding what appears to be a metal handle of some kind -- with spikes at the end of it at the end of it.
A devil attendant waits politely. ]
INTO YOUR CHEST NOW, MOVE ALONG. UNLESS YOU'D RATHER HAVE US DO IT FOR YOU?
[ He is ratshaked all the way up to the cabin. Embarrassing. As struggling means he'll have to fall to the ground, he puts up with it with a poorly withheld, sour expression. It is possibly less bad than what Emet-Selch has to deal with, anyway.
But the cabin itself is bad time for them both. He picks up one of the handles for himself, casting a quick glance to Emet-Selch. ]
Is that all right...?
[ Stabbing himself in the chest sounds pretty straightforward, actually. But he gets that it might be like... unpleasant? Might as well check in first. ]
[ Weirdly enough, it doesn't hurt as bad as you'd think it would. The spikes go into your chest, but it feels more like a very uncomfortable prickle, but the fact that you're doing it yourselves probably helps to steel against it and lessen the amount of discomfort you would have experienced.
The weird part begins here, though, as once the handle is firmly in your chest, your chests open like door handles. Censors you both, as it appears it just opens into a creepy chasm of dark red. More importantly, there seems to be a paper inside of you, also dark red in colour. ]
YOUR CONTRACTS... YOU WILL SIGN HIS, AND HE WILL SIGN YOURS. THEN RETURN THE CONTRACTS INSIDE, AND YOUR PARTNERSHIP IS COMPLETE.
[ There are benefits to stabbing yourself instead of letting strangers do it! It's an important lesson. The mild pain barely registers.
It's the rest of this that makes him stagger a bit, hand automatically floating up to the eerie, red cavity that creaks open in his chest, a space that should be full of things like blood and organs, and not paper. He hesitates a moment before he tugs the contract free, handing it to Emet-Selch first. While he doubts he can keep this conversation private, he speaks quietly anyway, in warning. ]
...I do not know what will happen after this.
[ He doesn't know what this means, or what it'll do, but he's not going to quit here to leave Joonghyuk alone, wherever he is. They have to get to him quickly, and they have to leave. He doesn't even read it, like that might shake his resolve, though he'll be patient if Emet wants to look it over.
Wouldn't be the first time a contract screws them over. ]
[ I CENSOR YOUR INSIDES. It does not feel pleasant in any manner of the word, removing the contract nor signing on it. Thank you for your efficient signage, and as you two sign and return the contracts to one another, you feel... different.
There's a passive link between the both of you, and know that you now have some level of control over the other. What he feels, you feel. What you feel, he feels. What the other demands, you will feel compelled -- disrespect it, and the contract will rot you, inside out.
The doors to your ribcage closes, the seams fixing right up as if your literal insides weren't just opened up like a safe door. The handle comes out, and you're left with pinpricks, but the bleeding isn't bad.
You are now partnered.
The devil congratulates your sorcerer marriage with a clap of their hands. ]
WONDERFUL. WE DO LOVE EFFICIENCY. NOW, MISTER DIMITRI... WE ACTUALLY HAVE SOMEONE WAITING FOR YOU, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MEET THEM. WOULD MISTER EMET-SELCH LIKE TO WAIT HERE, OR COME ALONG WITH? PARTNER RIGHTS.

shhhh i missed
