...but I don't know. For now, all we can do is proceed with living with it and try to move ahead. I can't say for sure what will happen, but...you do still have your contract to fulfill. That's the most important thing.

...it's a bit of a scary thought, isn't it? Not having as much time as you thought you would, leaving people behind when all you wish to do is save them. [it's understandable, they think, for someone like her.]

The most you can do is protect yourself. And the assurance that if you did ever decide to take action, your brother would be safe.

[she seems - very uncomfortable.]

I can't tell you what to do. And I'm not going to tell you what I think you should do, because I'm not the one who would have to live with whatever choice you make. What are your thoughts?

I don't want to. [she says, voice just the slightest unsteady. she looks away.]

I chased people around. Aikawa and I were dumbasses for a bit. I got kissed by a couple boys? Oh, and I told Sebsastian some embarrassing stories about Miles.

That does not surprise me. [they almost sound amused.] Something easy and something to redirect your focus on, even at the expense of other people.

Wow! I deliberately kept the worst stories to myself, I'll have you know!

[a beat.] It was easy, though. Just for a bit.

I never thought you would be one to hold back, so color me impressed. [haha.] ...I believe that was the entire point of hosting such a party. A bit of a break from what's happened. A "boost of morale", if you will.

[evocationary]

It worked out that way. It was nice to have before we had to worry about a body and a case.

[she pulls her hair down over her shoulder and sighs at it.]

[she can't see their face, but there's maybe a semblance of a smile there.]
