DAWN WATCH

Today, when Kaeya is in his bedroom, he will receive a message on his typewriter.

Have you ever had one of those dreams where you awaken suddenly because you feel like you're falling?

Not a dream. Wake up call!

Immediately after he finishes reading the message, a trap door opens underneath Kaeya, plunging him into the darkness. When he wakes up at the bottom (?), bones miraculously not broken, he will find himself in a room.

It's a room he's never seen before, arching ceilings and starry-skied windows dotting each wall. A collection of bookcases, alchemy shelves and astronomy tools can be found here for perusal, though nothing can leave this room. A crescent moon-shaped window takes up a majority of the wall directly across from the entrance. Perched on the window seat is Gemini, a worn-out map in their hands.

"You certainly took your time, didn't you."

At a large mahogany desk in the center of the room, papers spread out in front of them, Aquila sits in a comfortable looking chair, elbows resting on the desk, chin perched in their gloved hand. You get the sense they might be smiling.

"Rise and shine. We've got work to do. Or, well... "

With a flick of their hand, Aquila opens a sheaf of papers labeled PARTICIPATION CONTRACT: ADDENDUM and turns it towards Kaeya.

"You've got a little extra work to do. Congrats on being qualified! I wouldn't recommend refusing. Now then - blue or black ink?"


RULES

1. Dawn Watch is required to report to the tower the moment they awaken on Friday morning.
2. Dawn Watch must select three locations to investigate after a murder has taken place. These selections must be made by sundown Thursday.
2A: Participant sleeping quarters are off-limits.
3. Dawn Watch may explore these three locations in any order they wish.
4. All evidence and sleepers will be preserved for observation.
5. Dawn Watch will not be able to meddle, remove or disturb any evidence they find during their rounds.
6. Dawn Watch must make their selection before leaving the tower and cannot change their mind upon beginning their rounds.
7. Dawn Watch is not to disclose that they are performing these duties. Discussing them with anyone other than authorized Hotel Staff will be considered breach of contract and will result in the death of Klee.

At the Pool, nothing is out of place. No one is sleeping by the pool this morning.

At the Training Dojo, nothing is out of place. Kaeya can see Sylvain, Dimitri, Shinobu, and Tsurumaru peacefully sleeping.

At the. Costume Closet, nothing is out of place. Kaeya will see Lup, Yuri, Mollymauk, Harrowhark, Sheila and Rupert peacefully sleeping. ]

[ he gives them a peep and for a moment his fingers curl just a bit more tightly around the bottom of the page. blue or black ink. ]

[ good morning! kaeya is roused bright and early as he was last thursday by aquila and gemini, who lead him to his locations.

the first stop is the library. first, he can see rupert, bradley, aikawa, futaba, sheila, and jason here, fast asleep. everything appears normal at first...then, shadows fill the room, the people vanish, and when the light returns, kaeya can see that the library doesn't look quite right. what would kaeya like to examine?

you may ask one question about this location, but time may not allot you a full answer. the sun is rising, after all. tick tock! ]

aquila is sitting on the desk today instead of the chair. they have a pair of large, pitch black wings behind them, and they're tapping their black, clawed fingers against the top of their knee.

gemini's changes aren't as visible with their uniform - however, they are also sporting clawed hands, and are being very careful not to tear the map as they look at it. ]

Oof...

[ he will lay there for a few moments, blinking tiredly up at the hole he fell through before slowly sitting up. great. time to do better than he did last time. slowly, he gets up, and as he does so, a trail of frost leaves his boots. it seems to melt and dissipate the moment it touches the ground, doesn't seem to leave a palpable chill behind, but he's covered in it the same from eyelashes to his hair too his fingertips.

behind him, a fluffy snow leopard tail is twitching a bit, his ears pricking forward. ]

Really not going to let me just... walk my way down here, huh?

aquila is sitting at the desk in the chair again today, a little more stiffly than usual. however, they are also folding paper airplanes out of random papers on the desk.

gemini is at the window seat, mostly reviewing the map and occasionally glancing out the window themselves. ]

down we go, i guess! less complaints than before though, almost like he's getting used to this? there's a little "plaff!" of gold dust that follows him, almost like he's just gone back to his room after getting stardusted for the umpteeth time.

he sighs, getting up to dust himself off and giving a yawn behind his hand. ]

[ aquila is at the desk again, today, fiddling with something under their sleeve.

gemini is at the window seat, map in hand and looking more out the window than at it directly. ]

[ i stole bedsheets from housekeeping so enjoy kaeya sliding down a rapunzel rope of flat sheets, this is all your fault. he doesn't make it all the way down with it, but it's an acceptable distance to let go and jump, landing with surprising grace and flopping into the chair at aquila's desk with a resolute flop!

he gives a pleased wiggle of the fingers to gemini with a hand. ]
