[earlier in the day, sebastian may notice that the key he found has changed a bit. the newly-added letter glimmers on the key tab.
sebastian, with his flawless logic, can probably assume that this means something. so! he's grabbed a purple-haired twink and now they're sneaking around.
as sebastian and yuri make their way through the hotel, looking for somewhere to use the key, they find themselves in the mezzanine. specifically, as they're walking to the corner of the cassiopeia wing and the big dipper wing, across from the other guest rooms, the room on the left is marked with a golden E.
[ he probably frowned at this E thinking edgeworth was somehow mocking him again but it's fine. anyway, he kind of does a doubletake at the E on that room. ]
Ah!! Wait, was this even a room before...??
[ did he just NOT NOTICE??? anyway, he will look for a keyhole! ]
... Huh. I didn't think these were rooms either. Wonder what's in there?
[ with sebby keyhole hunting, yuri will give the area a once over. what's out there, friends? is there anything suspicious about this room that isn't the fact it's there at all and we just didn't See? ]
[there is in fact a keyhole! it is a door and always has been. there just has not ben any way in before.
there's nothing weird out in the hallway.
sebastian's key fits the keyhole perfectly, and... into the room they go. it's cozy, with wooden flooring and a fluffy pink rug at the center of the room. there is a neatly-made bed on the left, with a zebra print patterned comforter and pink pillows; a pink plaid throw blanket is neatly folded at the end of the bed, and a teddy bear is tucked in, settled against one of the pillows.
the wall opposite them is painted purple. a variety of venetian masks stare at them, mounted from a bulletin board that is on the wall; there's a window with blinds, but the blinds are shut. to the right of the window, three more venetian masks are mounted.
on the wall by the bed, which is greyish-blue, a large poster of what looks like a tropical paradise is mounted. above it, there's a banner that reads "ITALIA," and to the left of that there's a dresser with some neatly-organized trinkets on top. Above the dresser is a mirror, and above that, a flag pinned to the wall - three vertical stripes in green, white, and red.
the wall corresponding to the door they just came through is pink. to their right, there is a desk, neatly organized with cosmetics and skincare items on it. a mirror is mounted above it, lights on either side of the mirror. a laptop sits on the desk, but it's closed. there's a pink swivel chair in front of it, and a cozy looking pink-and-turquoise chair a bit off to the side, near the wall on which a freestanding closet is built in. a dreamcatcher hangs from the corner of this closet, and there are boxes neatly organized on top of it.
there are a variety of pictures posted along the walls in general - depicting scenery of various places from around the world.
... Do you think it's one of the staff's rooms? There were keys in one of the earlier rooms that got broken into, from what I remember.
[ well. logically he wants to check the laptop, but he's not exactly tech savvy. he'll stop by the dresser to take a good look at the trinkets -- anything interesting there? -- before looking at the laptop. is he able to open it? ]
[the closet is pretty packed full of clothes! they're all pretty fashionable-looking - the first row you can get to has an orange jacket, a dark grey jumper with light grey polka-dots, some skirts, some dresses, some tops, etc. but there are clearly other rows behind them.
the trinkets on the dresser are cutesy little things - a small ceramic figure shaped like a cat, some charms, etc. the laptop can be opened, and when it does, a lock screen with this as its background pops up. it's asking for a password.
on the desk next to the laptop, there's also a small book.]
[ YEAH THE ROOM HE BROKE INTO HIMSELF but he got so hung up on emet being an elephant that the rest of it kind of slipped his mind after a few days ]
Oh!! That's right! Those ones Claude and I found in the employee lounge before... I think there were eight of them, so that probably makes sense.
[ looks over at that dresser yuri was just checking and squints at the "italia" banner and the flag he recognizes from the window of that place back home with the really good spaghetti. ]
Was one of them Italian?
[ does fodlan have an italy
are these other rows in the back intriguing or just more clothes...? he'll carefully push some clothes apart like curtains and hope he doesn't knock any off the hangers! ]
[there are more clothes in the back, but the style is... pretty different! while the clothes up front are more modern, european style, the ones in the back are clearly japanese - men's kimono, hakama pants, and an assortment of haori, including one in a light blue color with white triangles on the sleeves.
the book by the laptop isn't a notebook - it is a french-japanese dictionary.]
It's a country. That's its flag over there, I think. They hang it outside pasta restaurants.
[ huh. interesting. so it's men's clothing back here and women's clothing up front? he will take note and close the closet and take a look at the boxes on top of it! what kind of boxes are they? ]
Sebastian can you see any notes or anything around here? There's a language dictionary here, so there might be a password clue. [ he'll pick up the dictionary and flick through it. is there anything marked, or hidden in the pages? ]
[yep, women's clothes up front and men's clothes in the back! the closet door is closed. the boxes on top of the closet are cutely colored and patterned - they're decorative storage boxes, but they're neatly organized on top of each other.
there's nothing hidden in the pages, but a few common phrases - "hello," "goodbye," "thank you," "you're welcome," etc are underlined.]
Um... maybe check in the desk? That's where I got the key to the file cabinet in the lounge before. Or like, under the computer! I don't know if it's a thing anyone would do with a laptop, but a lot of times people just put post-its with their passwords under the keyboards on normal computers.
[ he is going to take a look in each of these boxes! one at a time, so he doesn't get mixed up about what order to put them back in. ]
[the boxes contain... an assortment of things! here is a list:
A piece of paper with a fox drawn on it. There are creases, as if it was folded at one time. A silly straw. A pressed flower that has been safely put into a clear plastic baggie. A polaroid of a lisa frank baby chick. A ribbon with a tiny pair of fox earrings stabbed through the middle. An IOU for a walk outside or a free meal. A little bow A polaroid of photographed sweets from the bazaar with a small "Come with us next time!" note at the bottom. A piece of stationary that's been carefully cut into a leaf-like shape with a silver butterfly clip delicately pinched to the edge. An empty wine bottle. A folded origami fox. Pressed flowers in a variety of colors, safely put into a clear plastic baggie. A watercolor painting in this vein. A silver version of this in the shape of Vulpecula's constellation. Nail swatches with a small "Pick one :) or two!" note on it. An empty sake bottle. Another origami fox.
these are split over various boxes in a way that makes logical sense.
underneath the laptop there isn't anything of note, but also on the desk there is ... a typewriter! it looks very much like the kind in everyone's rooms. it doesn't appear to have any unread messages in it, though; it's just blank paper, which can't be removed.]
Oh, there's a bunch of little gifts or something in these. Are these tips people left?
[ oh no does the watercolor painting look like kazunari's style... if it does he will probably get a little misty-eyed. (if it doesn't he'll just be more dryly sad.) ]
Oh! I think this room belongs to Vul...dracula...? There's a couple of fox things, and I think this is their constellation...?
[ okay, he will carefully put those back. it's cute that they're keeping all of them. and now he has better tip ideas for the future because his own are pathetic...
is there anything notable about the dreamcatcher while he's still by the closet or is it just a cool dreamcatcher? ]
[the watercolor painting doesn't look like kazunari's style. sebastian is spared from being wetly sad.
the dreamcatcher is ... a dreamcatcher! it's got some green feathers hanging from it.
as for the makeup area - who knows about helpful? but there's an assortment of products. nail polishes, foundations, blushes, lipsticks... many of them are modern-looking, but some of them definitely look like more ye olde, asian types of makeup.
it's the same for the brushes, too - many modern-looking makeup brushes, but a handful of old-fashioned, traditional-looking brushes.]
Yeah, that! Maybe the password's just that name? I guess you can also just try typing in "password".
[ he can't say shit about insecure passwords after he told his to everyone during paintball.
he'll take a look at the pictures on the walls. anything distinctive or just generic travel photos? is there anything written on the backs of any of the pictures if he looks? ]
[the pictures on the walls are clearly scenes of landmarks from a variety of countries! they give off the implication that the owner of this room is well-traveled.
there aren't years written on the backs of them or anything, but there are months which correspond to the scenes on them - "June" for scenery of a Mediterranean beach, "January" for a snowy landscape, "March" for a picture of plum blossoms in bloom, and so on and so forth.
the pattern seems to be that most of the phrases underlined aren't too complicated! they're simple things that would seem weird if someone who was fluent in a language got wrong.]
[the lock screen image is very pretty. it is, in fact, venice, which sebastian will recognize even if he's forgotten the names. and yeah, they're venetian masks.]
