He just kind of sinks deeper into his own mine cart... as low as he can fit his 6'8" body in there....... and is just kind of astral projecting like 'get me out of this stupid field trip already'.

okay so let's. address. jiji and aikawa first because they are truly just going into this dark-ass cave mine on the rails speeding along to meet other cars head-on. it is entirely possible aikawa is going to get bonked in the head with a stalactite but it's okay. that is the least of his worries.
jiji is tuning the radio and gets a new message, interlaced with static.]
"-killed himself today, after what his partner describes as a years-long battle with depression. His body was found hanging from a-"
[as their cars zip along the tracks, they will find there's no stopping. instead, approaching them in opposite cars are two reanimatedcorpses wielding their own pick axes. the cars collide, knocking both of them off-course onto the tracks as the two other figures begin to crawl into their cars. a pickaxe digs itself into jiji's shoulder, attempting to tear straight down. a different axe lodges itself right into aikawa's spine. ouchie. the two corpses keep them skewered on these axes, attempting to throw them down into the abyss.
meanwhile, kdj did the smart thing and did not run straight at other cars. he veers off-course, but his car begins to slow down, ambling along kind of like roller coasters do as you near the end of the track. it's dark now, but as he comes to a stop his face bumps into something.
does he have a light source, and would he like to look? or will he abandon ship, finally?]
well, Dokja in fact does have a light source. sure he could abandon ship but why would he do that when he can just rummage for his flashlight and turn it on. he's less cautious so he'll give in to curiosity.
[also if they're not friendly he can just kill them. > they're not friendly
the pickaxe lands on his shoulder, but he decides the radio is less important now. he drops it onto the floor of his own mining cart, bringing up one hand to try to grasp onto where the corpse is digging the pickaxe into his shoulder, forcing it up. his other hand reaches for his sword - himself - and will just.
move to cut the corpse right in half.
normally he'd laugh? he'd ask aikawa how he's doing? he'd provide some backup?
[ Well, this wasn’t how he planned on his day going when he woke up this morning but suppose this may as well happen.
Good news! A lower spine injury is actually completely new and he has not experienced this. Bad news! HE HAS A FUCKING SPINAL INJURY AND IS NOW APPARENTLY PARAPLEGIC.
At the least, he was able to be efficient before that happened to him because he had a 16, reacting fast enough despite the collision and chaos to immediately flick out his knife and slice at these corpses. Recognition or not, it’s a bit of a different story when they’re in this situation and they’re very obviously now the living dead. May Jiji have an easier time when the zombos are missing an hand or arm or what have you, and it does keep him from falling straight down into the abyss, but.
[the pickaxe in jiji's sword does tear, but it apparently means nothing when he's busy cutting a teenage corpse in half. aikawa, meanwhile, suffers greatly. his spine becomes inflamed, bleeding, pulsing and he finds himself falling heavily back into the car.
with the combination of all of the sudden movement, weight, and momentum though, the cars begin to rattle and soon they all tip. aikawa can't even begin to try and save himself, falling straight down into the dark. jiji, likewise, can attempt to hold onto the railing and not fall but a cart rolls over his fingers, breaking them and send him down with futaba's two halves chasing after him.
they fall for ages. eventually, they fall at a speed in which they can't even hear anything but the whistling of the wind in their ears, and as they hit the bottom they're greeted by sharp, jagged rocks.
[kim dokja has zero idea what the fuck is going on, probably.
turning on his flashlight, he is greeted with what looks like a dark shoe. this dark shoe is attached to a dark pantleg, and as he looks up he is soon greeted by the pale, gaunt face of a man, hanging from a bungee cord from a rail much higher up. he sways slightly, kicking dokja in the face again as his body slowly spins.
there's nowhere to go. there's no one left. it's just him alone in the mines.]
[with their loot and now with at least one of the radios tuned to 102.3, the two of them will begin wandering out of the post office and hear the crackle of the radio.]
”The island is famously sought out by those seeking a higher purpose, and those who would prefer to relax in pleasure and luxury. Famously named after the lotus flower, Lotus Island calls to those who wish to fix their past and secure their future.”
[the radio glitches, wavering as they walk toward the stairs before the signal continues.]
”The art of regret is a time-honored tradition. You will be a part of that heritage, dear listener. Do not resist, it will be over soon. Your participation will ensure clear communication with Aruji and Nikaido.
Be sure to tune in for more information.”
[there are the stairs. they can take those! they seem to lead up into the cliffsides but it's difficult to see what might beyond the rocks. or they can attempt to get to the radio tower traveling up a different path onward.
though...they get the feeling that perhaps the stairs are not a wise option. it will lead to the hole, and the hole is not worth it. going through the fence is an option, but it will only lead them to the mines. that isn't an option either. both of them are covered in cuts and bruises. aikawa is no longer paralyzed but may feel a twinge in his back. jiji's blade is covered in blood. they still have lost memories and memories that were not their own, personality adjustments that are also not quite their own, but they have been dulled down to a more manageable level.

[death comes again - and mikazuki blinks when he recognizes the direction they have taken. he hums faintly to himself, almost as though taking note... and shifts uncomfortably even in his own skin. it is odd, to be him... and not him.
i am always myself, he had said to others - but he supposes that's being put into question here.
he flicks the blood off his blade, attempting to clean it - himself? - of corpse remains before re-sheathing it.]
... your legs, Aikawa? Shall we proceed onward?
[this time gesturing to the different path and... waiting. yeah, he's actually waiting for aikawa is okay to confirm and then they can move on]
[ He’s had it up to here with this weird looping bullshit. Sure, he can walk again, which is nice, but the sharp stabbing pain in his back is a reminder that whatever that was, it did happen to some extent. And with the determination granted to him starting to wane, he’s really plateauing, on the dangerous precipice of a nosedive.
And then with that, he’s the one who’s going to act out I guess because he’s just going to JUST START GOING UP THAT DIFFERENT PATH. ]
[the dead hanging bastard does not respond to kdj. instead, the light offers him a view of a long stretch of the mines ahead, railways going in different directions. some heading up, some heading down.
somewhere deep in the mines though, he will hear a "baat!"
meanwhile, back in timeloop #3, jiji and aikawa start to head for a completely different path. it's the only path they haven't taken yet, leading them back down and through the main part of town. if they both peeking into the post office, they'll see the remnants of their earliest excursion going through people's mail. the bulletin board is still ahead, missing a map and the radios. as they walk, they find themselves on a long winding rocky path.
it's oddly quiet. the sky is incredibly dark, probably in the late night/early morning hours. the walkway is slippery, but it leads them right down to the beach with no incident. like everything's leaving them alone...for now.
there's sand here. it's sandy, waves crashing against the shore and as they walk they find three sets of footprints. they begin to veer off past a bonfire that's long since gone out and toward a small fenced-off area. the fence itself is broken, slashed at as if with a blade. the footsteps go beyond that, but next to the fenced area is a large cave.
jiji, at least, will get the sense that going the route of the fence is not feasible, but will he listen? i dont know, you tell me.]
[ that's fine, the bastard would probably just call him a fool anyways. he frowns at seeing the different directions ahead. down... or up...
he looks back, as if expecting to hear the others but it's just. silence.
well, not entirely. that familiar cry has him at full alert, looking in direction of the sound. ]
...Biyoo?
[ he'll try to carefully move in direction of the sound. can he tell if it is up? down? or is it just echoing around? if he were himself he would consider going back the way he came for signs of his fellow cyoaers and be cautious of the voice that sounds so familiar to him. alas, he will try and head towards that cry instead. ]
[oh aikawa is in a mood.... as they begin to walk down toward that way, jiji hums faintly and honestly? will start listening for any faint sounds of scritch scratch or bawk bawks. bobchansan ditched him closer to the mansion, but now he's worried..... or at least 50% worried.
though he will stay focused and offer - ]
Not through the fence, Aikawa. It took me to the mansion last time, so I believe we ought go another way.
... will you be alright through the cave?
[if he's not then jiji can kill him like lowe asked (no)]
[ Oh please do kill him. Just smash him so he can go on autopilot for a while.
He'll just nod curtly. He isn't even looking for anything -- you have your chicken, Dokja somewhere is looking for his little riceball Biyoo. Aikawa, on the other hand, is rapidly approaching this mood.
Let's go to the cave. Just hope to God or whoever else that it has something that'll get them out. ]
[kdj will hear a few other sounds, another questioning "baat?" as he calls out a name. it appears to be further down. with the light ahead, he can see there is a fork in the road at the end of his current path. one part leads down, the other leads up.
the radio crackles.
inside the cave in timeloop #3, jiji may discover his radio is on his person despite dropping it in the mine cart, but aikawa's is gone because he dropped it elsewhere in this loop. the cave itself is a similar structure to the mine. it's large, cavernous, glowing green-blue with barely any real light and pathways that lead further into the cave and upward. though they can't make out distinct words, they will hear two voices conversing amongst themselves. a deep male voice, and a lighter female voice. these may be familiar to them...if they remember right now, actually.
the voices appear to be somewhere below them, and the path ahead of them splits to go up or down. they may choose.
the radio crackles here, too. sadly, there is no bawk bawk to be found.]
[ further down... well, then that's where he'll head. he will watch his step as he takes the path, coming to the fork and glancing to the radio. guess he may as well fiddle with it despite his hand. go on radio. tell us your new secrets as he takes the path that leads down. ]
he tunes it again, reliably. aikawa was mad about his but time to see what creepy message they get next! nice.]
... I wonder who they might make us see.
[idly, as he thinks about those voices. time to wander off to follow in that direction, trusting that aikawa will. probably go the same way? time to find out]
[ He's only barely biting his tongue from saying 'who cares', because whoever it is, at least one person is someone likely important to Mikazuki, and he likes Mikazuki enough to not be a mean ass at him.
He will kind of lag behind a little bit, but after a moment and a slight 'tch', he will follow yes. ]
[kdj begins to take the path to the fork, stopping at the crossroads and fiddling with the radio before continuing down. ahead of him, he sees a very soft, white ball of fluff lingering in the shadows.
jiji and aikawa also begin to follow, radio tuning and crackling as they head down. likewise, ahead of them, two figures linger shrouded in shadows. aruji and nikaido's features are hidden, but they appear to watch the two of them.]
" -Orpheus that he could take Eurydice back with him but under one condition: she would have to follow behind him while walking out from the caves of the underworld, and he could not turn to look at her as they walked. - unable to hear Eurydice's footsteps, however, he began to fear-"
[from their current positions both in the mine and in the cave, all three of them will see that the path leads onward and upward. it's dark, glowing red and green-blue respectively, slippery rocks and jagged edges on the way, but it's a straight shot up toward the surface.
the radio crackles again.]
"Do not resist, it will be over soon. Your participation will ensure clear communication with Biyoo, Aruji, and Nikaido."
you can't really mistake that white fluff entirely. round, very large in size, of course he would like it for her but. what does that mean on a trip that is this? something to think about, things to consider if he was thinking more properly but
alas, he's just focused on heading in direction of that white ball of fluff. if he was less cautious maybe he'd be more careful about approaching but no he's just. going right in. biyoo biyoo biyoo ]
It's taken a lot just to get a glimpse of you, you know?
everything about jiji's posture eases when they arrive. despite his own worries about the tricks, even the facsimile of his master makes something in his shoulders relax. his sword was bloodied earlier, this body crushed and maimed, but even for the chance to remember what - who - it was all for, then he cares so little.
(you, my reason has always been—)]
... let us not turn back.
[doing anything else would just leave them trapped here, wouldn't it? and ultimately - if there is even the chance that this could become even close to enough to reach his saniwa, then he likely would take this chance every time.
[ He doesn’t necessarily resist, but he certainly wants to. As it is, he just sticks his hands into his pockets and keeps his gaze downwards, not meeting the eyes of the shadowed figures. Neither Aruji, nor Nikaido.
No recognition, warm smiles, no warm reunion.
Only a cold, distant, somber quiet, not bridging the gap that she so desperately wants him to return from. ]
[there are three different reactions here and all of them are so deeply depressing for a variety of reasons.
so. biyoo biyoo biyoo will barely wait before gently colliding into kdj's arms, a soft sound of greeting to let herself be held for a bit. her fur is warm. she's solid. she's here.
aruji watches jiji from the shadows, contemplating his beloved sword's appearance, looking him over. though words are not exchanged, jiji may get the sense that this journey will not be easy. can he prove himself? can he truly lead the way without letting anything change?
as for nikaido, she seems to also watch aikawa, waiting for any sign of acknowledgment. when nothing comes, she reaches out a hand as if it will make a difference, pinky extended. a reminder, if anything.
they will all have to move soon, because the radio crackles one more time.]
it's as if he expected as much, for her to not wait and he already welcomes her with his arms open. taking her right in his hold as he holds her protectively, warmly, remembering the feeling of her in his arms once more.
there's a look of fond when he regards her. that familial love a father holds for their daughter so clear on his face. she feels so warm. real. there's a sigh of relief, burying his face just slightly into her fur. ]
