[cloud knocks on the door, and there's a sound of something falling off of something else from behind the door. a few moments later, it opens and gemini sticks their head out to lean against the frame and wave.]

Hey, Cloud. [hewwo.] Need something?

... Figured we could talk.

[ he was honestly checking to see if gemini was even in their room and did not think that far ahead. i just want meow wow ]

Yeah, okay.

[which is all they say before closing the door in cloud's face. there's a little bit of activity behind the door, and after a few moments they open it again.]

Come in.

[cloud can enter the room. it's roughly the same as before, except somehow it's even more of a disaster. kind of like half-teenage boy and half-teenage boy who doesn't have enough energy to care how much of a disaster it is. there's still clothes on the floor, assorted dog toys and books and random items among them. the desk is piled even higher with papers, files, and books. the bed's not made in the slightest. the window's open though, displaying that nice park area.

and meow wow squeaks from his place on the bed, butt immediately wiggling as he tries to wag his tail upon seeing cloud from his place halfway under the covers. gemini goes and has a seat on the bed, gesturing for cloud to sit down wherever he wants.]

How're things going out there?

[ how did everything get even worse. he looks wryly impressed. he doesn't bother sitting down just yet, instead hesitantly offering his hand to meow wow to sniff. he was not aggressive last time but cloud is mildly paranoid. ]

It's... [ he hesitates, but he doesn't think it's fair to talk to sora about the revivals when he knows they won't pick clem. ] There's less arguing. Downside is, half the hotel is covered in shadows.

[depression. also they've been busy, don't @ them.

meow wow recognizes cloud as a friend, so there's a happy squeak as he bonks his dumb face right into cloud's hand. pets! friends! he is aggressively friendly and that's about it.]

Yeah. I noticed. Kind of weird, right? [passively.] The...shadows. Not the less arguing. Less arguing's probably really good for everybody right about now.

It's less, not none. [ a little dryly as he pets the meow wow. fat catdog... ] But yeah. Shadows are weird. Even weirder when you step into them. This affect you guys any?

I don't have any hope left for zero arguing at this rate. [it's slightly amused. they're busy fiddling with stuff on their nightstand. their uniform is kind of haphazardly thrown on, like maybe they weren't wearing it entirely before cloud came by. one of the gloves is threatening to fall off, a few things are misbuttoned...it's fine.]

I'm not sure though. Probably? I haven't left my room today.

Try to stay out of them, then.

[ he's not going to point out the uniform mess, but he is.

taking a candy bar out of his jrpg pocket, first, handing that over, and then taking out the red xiii plushie. he is still petting meow wow with his other hand while that happens. ]

You got any clue why I got this?

Yeah. I'll do my best. [it's said lightly, and they take the candy and sort of stare at it before setting it aside for later. thanks cloud.

instead, they're focusing on the red xiii plushie. meow wow is busy trying to crawl into cloud's lap.]

...huh. No, but it's kinda cute. It's Red XIII, right? Or some version of him. [they reach forward to beep the plushie's nose. hehe.]

[ eat your candy, sora. but he ends up sort of handing him the plushie when meow wow crawls in his lap because that is a bigass cat dog and he kind of needs both hands to balance this mess as he gives up and sits with him ]

Yeah. Pretty sure he'd hate seeing himself like this. [ red's dignity... destroyed in this adorable posable plushie. cloud seems to think it's a little funny, though ] It just showed up in my room.

but they take the plushie and they watch meow wow practically bowl cloud over before they pull their legs closer to their body to give both of them more room. they're fiddling with the plushie, letting one of red's legs do a lil kicky.]

Weird. Maybe it's just supposed to be something nice. You guys are friends, aren't you?

[ he's the only dad you've got, thank you

this dog cat is so jiggly, god. cloud's trying to find a way so he is not pushed back down on the bed completely and squished by love and also licked to death. please. ]

Sure. [ he might waffle on terminology but it's been four months in various murdergames so he gives up trying to be distant, it's fine ] I don't mind having it. Beats a lot of stuff we've received in this place.

[you know that's true. puppycat is very comfy with his cuddling and trying to lick cloud's face, and gemini is still playing with red-plushie's pawpaws.]

Yeah. It could be a lot worse. It's kind of nice to have while you're still here. Even if Red XIII might throw it away when you get home.

[ no ... no licky... cloud is doing that thing where you kind of lean away from the dog's face while continuing to hold and pet them. it's fine. ]

He's going to try, and the rest of them are going to convince him to try and keep it. [ a little wry. his friends are bullies. ] You had this guy in the Realm, right? That one week.

[meow wow whines a little sadly. licky :(?]

That's because nobody can say no to Aerith or Tifa, I'm pretty sure. Gonna guess the same about Barret. [a gloved hand comes up to pet meow wow though.]

Surprised you really remembered. [they sound a little pleased though, more lively than they have for most of this conversation.] He was one of them though, yeah. They're called Dream Eaters. They're friends. Meow Wow's the one that sticks with me the most. And Komory Bat was with Riku a lot.

[ no!!! no licky!!! well, maybe licky, because cloud is distracted looking over at gemini with a raised eyebrow ]

... Its name is Meow Wow?

[ he can accept the bat one. he cannot accept meow wow. ]

also wow. glad cloud can accept "bat bat" but it's meow wow he has issue with.]

I don't want to hear that when your name's Cloud. [says the idiot whose name literally means sky.] And it's not like I named him. That's what he was called when he was created.

he's also busy spluttering when meow wow succeeds in licking him, making a face ]

[meow wow squeaks happily now that he's managed to lick cloud's face.]

Yeah. They're all different and they all have different ways of being created, so they have specific names. In the Realm during that week I had Meow Wow, Komory Bat, Necho Cat, Pegaslick, Ryu Dragon, uh...probably a few others, too.

[ cloud pokes meow wow on his side. naughty squeaky puppy. he's wiping his face off ]

Yeah, I remembered yours changing a lot. They were weird, so it was hard to forget. [ no one knew that that week cloud had a baby chocobo daemon hidden in his robes because he had dropped too law in numbers. hilarious ]

I think they probably changed a lot because they were all friends that helped us during our exam. [that's not why. it's just because i thought it was funny.] We were connected back then, too.

They helped you during an exam? [ he sounds a little confused because what kind of Test requires this ] I thought you said they were created.

Both of those things can be true, Cloud. [they sound pretty amused.] But yeah. They helped us during our exam. It's kind of another long story.

Okay. So you created your own friends. [ sure. whatever. he tilts his head ] I've got time if you do. [ he's not entirely sure if they do, which is why he says it, rubbing the tumtum. the image is hilarious. ]

I have a little time left, sure. [meow wow is pleased with the tummy rubs.] ...I think I told you that my friend and I used to practice together while we were growing up, and eventually we both came into possession of our own things. [things being code for "keyblades."]

The problem was that there's actually an exam you're supposed to take in order to become a master. Both of us had to take the test in order to not only become masters, but learn a new skill that was supposed to help us later.
