dear orion again... they're quiet for a long moment, not making a remark about the nickname this time, and stare at their cup, thoughtful.]
... I believe that a duty is important to be performed, no matter what it is. [a beat.] I don't particularly like being under someone's thumb, but that's alright.
Because I have asked some of your number, and I wanted to hear your answers.
I am an old man... but it is rare for me to encounter new situations all the same, stories that I do not know, and fates that I am unsure how they will come to end.
So I am afraid I have a great deal of questions - if you would be willing to entertain them, from time to time.
[ they laugh a little, lifting the cup up. it disappears under their veil for a sippy. ]
I... don't mind answering questions. But, I can't always give you an answer. If that's alright, then I wouldn't mind.
You keep bringing up the fact that you're old - but there are many of you who have centuries under your belt. Have you conversed with any of them, beyond your companion?
Fufu... The others have been fun to speak with as well. Bradley Bain, Lup Lastname, Ercnard Sieghart, and Flayn when we had time with her. [there's also hua cheng and emet-selch but week 0 kicked our asses i think]
And I'd wondered if perhaps you'd had the chance to converse with some of the others, is all. You did mention that you liked other perspectives, as well, so... I imagine their perspectives would be interesting to you.
In truth... Age matters little when it comes to what I find interesting. I desire to hear from the thoughts of those my senior just as eagerly as I do those my junior. Youth may cloud some faculties of the mind [their brains aren't fully developed??] but their stories and hearts are just as captivating to me.
Perhaps it shall be simpler to say that I like people.
[ they duck their head a bit, and then wave it off. ]
It's alright. I've made my way - and the people I've surrounded myself with outside of work are those that I've found to be perfectly enjoyable indeed.
Perhaps I merely found myself something of a fish out of water, but that's a time long past.

... From what I know of Miss Flayn from reading her files, she would have liked the invitation.

Dear Orion... Do you particularly care for your duties?

Why do you ask, Mikazuki?

[ they set their tea back down. ]
...I think it can be both. I suppose.

As individuals, I hold everyone that I meet dear.
As a whole, humanity has earned my endearment.
To me, it is both.

[ they're thoughtful for a little longer, gloved hands wrapped around the cup.]
That's a very lovely sentiment, Mikazuki.

And of you? How do you feel about people?

they tap a finger against the cup. ]
... I don't know. It depends on the people, I suppose. I've not found many of them particularly enjoyable.
no subject
I am sorry to hear that.
Even though I am aware that perhaps the apology is hollow, coming from one not entirely human.

... They were the sort who shine like stars. Or, who at least felt as though they did.
