In my estimation, yes. Though I understand my people are somewhat dissimilar from others, in all having our individual purposes.

... Some people are born with purposes, and some aren't. All depends on the kind of being you are or where you're from, I suppose.

But I'm not what you'd call an ambitious person.

I would prefer to think all are still born with purpose, and others simply do not focus upon finding it.

Are you thinking of destiny assigned from birth?

Not necessarily.

Purpose may still be something found, at times. There is a place for all within the world, and while they may need to seek it, it shall still be there. Mayhap they were not born for a given role, but find themselves suited to fill it when they are needed, and find purpose in a new duty in that manner.

... I suppose that's not a bad way to think about it. I don't care for the idea of roles decided at birth... but it's nice to think everyone has a reason to exist.

I prefer to believe that they do. Otherwise, the star would not grant us life.

Your planet is what grants you life?

That is likely the easiest way to describe it, yes. Souls are born from and eventually return to the flow of aether throughout our world.

Is your world not ruled by gods, in that case?

[ktiseos]

Not at all. This is a fully natural process; we have no gods.

I see. Many societies live with the belief, proven or otherwise, that gods are responsible for creation.

It's interesting to think of a world where it's more of... science, would you call it?

[ktiseos]

I would, yes. Creation requires knowledge of the subject and a perfectly clear idea of what one wishes to create; this is why we require approval for many types of concepts.

Oh? So you also use this flow to manually create beings yourself?

[ktiseos]

So we do. Once approved, they then undergo extensive testing to ensure they are suited for their intended environment.

In a way, that would almost make you the gods.

...I can see how others might think it so, I suppose. But while we do consider ourselves stewards of our star, we certainly are not divine.

What would you call yourselves? You're certainly not human at least, from what I gather.
