[ they laugh!!! and then stick their chin out and just

put their face in his hand. affection week. ]

[he rolls his eyes and leaves his hand there just for a moment, before pulling it back.]

[he won't take it, though, he evidently just wants them to hold it out]

they hold out their hand, attention immediately captured. ]

[he carefully pulls the yellow bracelet from his left wrist. it's a little difficult with one good hand, but with a little fiddling-- he manages to double loop it around theirs so that it will stay put, given that it's sized for his big wrist.]

[ ... oh.

they - seem very surprised by this, actually, and look down. ]

-- Emet. [ ... ] I couldn't, isn't this - ?

[that's all he says in response, hand still wrapped loosely around their wrist.]

[ aquila shakes their head - emphatically, seriously, pushing gently against the hand, voice softening a little. ] I can't, seriously. He's not here - I'm not gonna take that from you.

I think that you could use it, as well.

[his grip settles, a little firmer.]

[ their voice lowers a bit, but there's some heat to it. ]

[his voice is as firm as his hold on them, there.]

You don't get to control that. If someone picks you, then you're picked. If you wake up, and you get killed, then I get to wake up to you dead.
