Dispel Effect, preferably. I believe it could be invaluable should I encounter a situation where one proves particularly troubling-- though I am equally interested in the capability to prevent the next one, if I find myself threatened.
I do wish to clarify for the latter use, however-- it may be used on oneself, yes? And for how long does it prevent an effect?
It can be used on yourself, and it'll work indefinitely. So, in theory, you could use it right away on yourself right away and then if someone tries to hit you with an effect four weeks later, you'd be protected. Just keep in mind that it's one use only, so your protection is up then. That one use applies across both ways to use it, too. So, it's one or the other.

Might as well tell you that we can give out more tasks than we have slots for the week, so if, hypothetically, it turns out you're racing against others to get this ability and you lose—you can choose to be put on a waitlist for next week when more slots might be open again, or we'll let you request room service from any of us to immediately grab a different, free power, since you already did a task.

It is still my answer, but I am curious how exactly it functions if they might be open again. Do you mean in the sense that if I were, say, third, I would still be required to wait another week, or that even if I were the second, there may be no availability?
The "might" is a disclaimer for the caveat that there's a blanket limit across the weeks. Generally, though, we wouldn't be giving out more tasks than we have available overall slots, if that makes sense. So being put on the waitlist would be with the assumption you'd automatically get it the next week.
Convince three people on separate occasions that a ridiculous or embarrassing lie about yourself is completely true. Maintain this story for the duration of the day. [i.e. for the duration of the thread, which should be relatively substantial aka not super short.] Obviously, you can't tell them it's for a task until everything is said and done.
