It's, uh. It's harder to get that when you haven't experienced it.

[she says, nodding.] Being staff, I mean. There's always restrictions. [...] That's why I always ask if I'm going to get you guys in trouble. I'm usually not uh, not concerned about breaking rules, but if I did something to fuck you guys over I'd be upset.

[she wrinkles her nose at that.]

That just sounds like NPC speak for "The Nightman would fire me and by fire me, I mean I'd die" or something. [she grumbles.]

... You're going to learn pretty fast that it doesn't really matter how much you do your job, people are still going to fight for you.

[she shoves her hands in her pockets, and stares out the window.]

We gave the UWU power enough to bring them to the station. We led them along for weeks. The endgoal, I think, was all of them needed to die. It wasn't exactly easy to talk to, so, like... we figured if we got all these people to indulge, and then eventually die, the essence they left behind would be enough for the UWU to finally give us our end of the deal.

But it started to get big. And the sinners noticed, but - when it came out with what we were doing, most of them? Most of them... didn't just let us stay fed to the thing instead.

Molly, and Harrow, and Zixi, Yuri, Sheila, all of them. They were angry, but... they gave us hope when we didn't have any.

[she tilts her head back.]

I don't know why they did, but I'm glad. I'm standing here because of them.

[a long pause.]

What if you don't want to be staff anymore?

[she sighs, still worrying at her lip, and then:]

I do. [but she's unhappy about it. she won't argue, for now.]

I'm not disappointed, you dingus.

[she says, ear flicking violently.] I worry. But it's not getting me anywhere at the moment, so I'm not going to bother you with it.

I do.

[she folds her arms.]

You're restricted. I get it. It's not you failing at something, though. Do you understand?

[i'm laughing]

No - no? What. No, I mean you're just prone to thinking you suck even when you don't. I could smell it in the way your memory worked. Just trust me on this.
