I'll be fine.

[One way or another, he'll make it so.

Across the house and dock, Sieghart stares crossly. This is just his luck. He exhales through his nose and looks around for signs of the absent boat.
]

Do you see a boat anywhere?

[The child glances up and down the river, but as he and presumably Sieghart both take a look around, they won't see any boats in visible range. On the plus side, the river here certainly looks less treacherous than the part that they had fallen into earlier!]

No... Should I go look up the river a little, Si-san?

[This place is out to destroy his leg. He has to rest it as much as he can, or he won't be able to move it anymore. After a moment of deliberation, he nods.]

Don't go too far. If you hear something, come back right away.

[Goodbye sweet Sieg's leggy...

Somewhat reluctantly, the child lets go of Sieghart with a nod.]

Okay... I'll be right back! Don't throw up.

[Apparently he looks like he might be at risk of doing so... But with that, the child darts up and away! He's heading further south, and will eventually get to a point where he can't go much further without ducking out of Sieg's line of sight. He looks like he's contemplating doing so.

If Sieg's looking around a bit and not just focused fully on the child in this time, he might notice that a bit up the way, there seems to be something in the water.]

[Well, it's a good thing there's a river into which he can throw up and hide the evidence, then.

He gave the child explicit instructions. The child had better not go too far. Sieghart does notice, though, and he limps up the way to investigate and keep the child in his sights at once.

[Sieghart is really going through it, huh...

Well, this is probably fine. The child's affection stat is high enough for Sieghart that he will, in fact, listen to the instructions given and not go too far. He would have strayed perhaps a bit out of Sieghart's line of sight if Sieghart hadn't moved, but he's a-limpin' his way along, so he can keep visuals on the child.

As for what he finds in the water, it appears to be... some rocks! Sticking out in a nice, neat little trail. It's not an easy bridge, but it might be better than swimming. Especially since the child trots back over and simply shakes his head.]

I didn't see anything.

[Balancing on rocks is, in fact, better than swimming. He'll have to be careful not to slip in his feverish, battered state, but taking the trail will be less exhausting. He motions for the child.]

We'll use these rocks to make our way across.

[The child is looking at those rocks and then at Sieghart so dubiously help.]

...Is it going to be okay?

[For Sieghart specifically?? He's not worried about himself, he's a strong little dude. After a second, he nods toward the cursed bundle.]

Should I carry that?
ercnerd: (03)

[personal profile] ercnerd 2022-07-14 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
No. This is my burden. You just worry about yourself.

[He won't stop the child from running ahead, though. This head is his responsibility and he won't saddle the child with such a nasty package. Onto the rocks, he goes.]

[personal profile] illomened 2022-07-14 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
[The child's expression implies he might want to argue, but he decides not to, since he doesn't want Sieghart to spend any energy arguing.

He won't be going first, though. He's going to wait until Sieghart goes first, like he thinks he'll actually be able to do anything at all to help if this wholeass adult man goes slip-sliding off the rocks. It's fine.

Anyway, i aki feel like being a merciful god, so even with that ABYSMAL roll, Sieghart will be able to cross with a lot of difficulty, but without losing his head. His leg is going to be in some fierce pain by the time he nearly gets to the other side, and he's going to feel the onset of some mild vertigo. Still, he's keeping purchase on the slippery rocks.

But right before he's able to jump off and onto dry land again, an enormous salmon the size of his whole torso leaps out of the water and flop-crashes into the side of his head.]

Ack!

[Between the salmon and the vertigo, his body stands no chance. His legs attempt to keep him upright, but the rock on which he stands is slippery. The salmon bodies Sieghart into the water right at the finish line.

He hates everything. Sieghart sputters and, ignoring the salmon in favor of air, splashes upright and throws himself onto land.

[There's a little squawking sound of surprise from the child as Sieghart just gets wholeass bodied by the salmon, and he hops quickly onto the last few rocks so he can reach this drowned rat as he drags himself out of the water.]

Si-san! Why do animals hate you...

[WHY INDEED.

Anyway, as Sieghart is pulling himself onto land, he might notice a shape bobbing on the water in the distance...]
