... Far, far too familiar. As they begin to cross, Sakura's boyfriend appears. And once more, he exposes the kind of person Marie truly is, with Sakura there, listening to it all.

I wanted to believe that you were actually a good person. I really wanted to believe it.
Wicked -- Marie Mizuguchi is so tired of being angry, of being ashamed for being alive; of all the people cursing her to die. She had stopped believing that she was a person undeserving of any kind of affection, but that doesn't make her any less prepared to allow the better half of her to achieve that while she rests. ]

[ She answers honestly, her smile a little somber. ]
Ah... this pisses me off... I wanna kill you -- but I can't kill you...
[The two of them begin to fall off the bridge. Marie knows how this goes, after living through it before. They both tumble down—but then Sakura reaches out.
She grabs only her boyfriend.
And thus, Marie falls. Falls, until she hits the ground below with a sharp impact, pain running up her spine. That's the last thing she'll remember, before losing consciousness.
In the dark, she'll hear a few notes of that song again. Then, when she opens her eyes, she'll find herself lying in a hospital bed, paralyzed. The sound of the heart monitor beeps by her, steady.
It was always meant to end up here, after all. But as she lies there, alone, perhaps barely unconscious—barely alive—she'll hear a voice echo. It comes from somewhere inside of her, ambiguous as to whether it's someone speaking to her or a question she asks herself.]
[ It doesn't get any better than the first time. But at least she saves Marie from having to relive this memory -- the pain of having someone believe in her, the adamant denial. Wicked couldn't bear the thought of someone sincerely wishing for her life to be better, and so what does she do when she's given everything that she's wanted?
She crushes it. She destroys it. Destroys herself.
Again and again and again.
Because who is she, but just a girl born into this world to be so vehemently hated by everyone? Who pushes everyone away? Who everyone sympathizes with but ultimately doesn't want to deal with long-term, because it is so difficult for her to believe that this happiness is something she deserves? Shouldn't she just die at this point?
