[When Molly stabs Caleb, it's as if everything goes black, as Molly's consciousness leaves him.
He dreams of his time spending time with the Nein in Hupperdook. Those were simpler times, weren't they? (Not having to worry about what goes on inside of you, not worrying about death, not worrying about the future.) Maybe it's not too late to grasp them once again. In his dream, he looks up from his drink to see Caleb, enjoying his own drink. They've all come a long way; may their path continue for longer still.
In the distance, he might hear a few notes of a song playing, before it fades to quiet.
When Molly wakes up, he'll find himself on a road in Wildemount. He's with the rest of the Nein, fighting off a group of bandits who thought they'd mug them. There's Beau, socking one; Caleb, getting ready to roast another; and the others but you can tell I'm not sure how anyone else here fights. But they're there!
[There sure is a lot of them, though! The Nein might actually be struggling a bit, so Molly's definitely going to want to help here even if he's potentially underleveled compared to the rest.]
I'm having a very fucking complex day, Beauregard, I don't need to hear it!
[ STOP YELLING AT YOUR DREAMS, MOLLY. Anyway, yeah, he will absolutely wade into the fray. He might still be mildly on fire. Don't worry about it. Things happen! He's not aiming to kill anyone, necessarily, just knock out who he can - being pretty liberal with the ice he can use during all this. ]
[Beau just looks at Molly like ???, what drugs are you on, man.
Molly does a good job of fending off the enemies, as do the other Nein—but there really are a lot of the enemies, and they're impressively strong. Molly knocks out one enemy with his ice, and then—
The only warning he gets is, after Beau punches out another foe, is the way her eyes widen. Her mouth opens, as if to say something, but it's too late.
The first is the sword now sticking out of Molly, stabbed through his back and coming out his front. The second is the sharp pain that'll hit him. For better or for worse, though, it really only lasts a moment. The attack is immediately fatal, with the final thing that Molly sees is the Beau's horrified, despairing face as she tries to dash towards him.
And then, everything will go black, as Molly dies.]
he seems surprised at first too, not quite sure what all the fuss is about before he looks down. There's a bit of a hiccup laugh - he has to? This is so absurb. Maybe he should invest in some armor if this is going to keep happening every time, right? Everyone is going to get a good chuckle out of this later, once they bury him again.
[His eyes don't quite shut—but they'll open once again.
... Granted, not exactly in the same place. When Molly awakens, he's on a ship now. The rest of the Nein are also there, to varying degrees of seasickness. It's like nothing ever happened to Molly, were it not for the stinging sensation in his chest that remains. But hey, he's not bloody, unlike Tsuru somewhere out there.
[ He'll glance down at his chest, putting a hand over it to feel for the wound, and finding nothing but the same old scars as before. The stinging is almost a relief in itself. At least his memory is intact.
He'll look over to Yasha and - he knows on some level this is all a strange dream, that she's not really here, and he's not really there, and he's never been on the Nein's ship with all of them at the same time. He was gone, for that part of their adventure. Left somewhere on the road to Shady Creek Run. But that's alright too.
He pats at his pockets desperately - digging them inside out and finding nothing, cursing under his breath. ]
Hey, I-- had something for you. I made a flower. I don't ...
[ He doesn't know what to do with Yasha looking at him like that, like she has to be concerned about him. He's the steady one, the one who knows who he is. There's really nothing to be concerned about. He doesn't want her to have to be the one to worry.
[ Looking up at the storm, and then over at Yasha, eyebrows furrowing - reaching for her elbow and holding tightly for a moment. The Stormlord's calling. ]
[Yasha simply smiles back at him, tense but warm.]
There are things we have to do. Don't fear for me.
[Lightning flashes, as the storm comes. The ship rocks dangerously now, making it difficult to keep one's balance. A few other members of the Nein call out in alarm. Yasha turns to face her god.
But then the ship lurches a little too much this time, and maybe Molly was a little too close to the edge—the jolt sends him flying over, as his friends yell out his name in fear.
But down he goes, plunging into the ice cold water, sinking further into its depths.]
He sinks further into the sea, everything growing cold. Water fills his lungs, choking him. Slowly, painfully, and alone, he drowns to death.
And then he wakes up yet again. This time, however, he's not with the Nein. He's simply in a void, absent of any real scenery. However, he isn't alone now.
Standing before him is... himself? Someone who looks like him, certainly. Unlike Molly, though, his accent is suspiciously good?]
[ he doesn't really want to look at that face any longer than he has to, and the voice alone is enough to send a horrible crawling feeling up his spine, coughing a bit with the memory of drowning - glowering at the space in front of himself. ]
I can't do that. You see, there's really only room for one of us—so I think it's time for you to go. Don't you?
[Molly doesn't want to look at this face? Good news is, he doesn't have to. Sort of. Lucien reaches out, his hand covering part of Molly's vision—and then Molly will feel pain in his eye, and as though something is sealing it shut. Of course, in his current state, he can't exactly check out the damage...
... and he has bigger things to worry about, as Lucien takes that opportunity to move his hands to Molly's throat. For better or for worse, choking is a sensation Molly's sure familiar with now, as Lucien begins to strangle the life out of him.
And as his vision goes white, as he teeters the border between life and death, he'll hear a voice echo. It comes from somewhere inside of him, ambiguous as to whether it's someone speaking to him or a question he asks himself.]
Is there anything in this world left protecting?
[He feels as though he should answer. Despite, uh, being strangled at the moment. It's fine.]
well that's fair, honestly. he'd had so many extra because of Lucien in the first place, what's losing one. He'd laugh at this too, the absurdity of it. Hadn't Claude made a joke the other day, only sort of funny at the time. With all those extra eyes, couldn't you see enemies coming? Not really, apparently. He barely even fights at first when the choking pressure comes, feeling the searing lack of oxygen competing with the firey explosion of pain from the eye for winning sensation of the day--
He actually does try and laugh at the question. What a ridiculous statement. What a stupid question. He's always been so stubborn about everything he believes, whether right or wrong, it's the philosophy he's built a whole out of a splinter from.
The answer is of course. For every stranger who hurls invectives there's a stranger who reaches for your hand when things look scary, who wants to trust you in the moment. For every horrible, shocking and bloody death, there's a family who will stop at nothing, will trek to the ends of the earth and beyond it to the farthest planes to try and save you, small and insignificant as you are in the grand scheme of fate. For every horrible bastard with too many eyes, there's a girl who despite everything the world has taught her about pain and betrayal and loss, wants to believe you when you say you can go home. Have a happy life. Because there's a beautiful, chaotic balance to the universe, like you say all the time.
So, you know, he aims a clawed hand to scratch right down Lucien's if he can manage it. Fuck you. ]
[And then Marie emerges, as if out of thin air. Her spell activates for her, re-summoning her gun in her hand. She drops in to the side of Lucien strangling Molly, with a clear view of both. Might be a little hard to tell them apart at a glance, but one of them probably looks more like an asshole?

The spell never makes it to them, as fire blasts from elsewhere, canceling it out. Two figures drop in front of Molly and Marie, speaking one after another but directed either to Lucien or the air.]
