[ my sudden belated realization that the curry probably should have been a polaroid... but then that raises the question of whether you just have a bunch of polaroids in your bowels when you come back from eating food in one of the weekly locations ]
Huh, I didn't know people were talking to you guys that much... I guess I should come over here more often.
[ he wants someone to think he's incredibly bright too!! as if... spending more time listening to him will make someone more inclined to think that... ]
But yeah... she's pretty cool too. I thought she was going to be a lot meaner. There's kind of a lot of people like that here, actually? Like, that look really scary or shady or whatever but then aren't that bad.
[ probably. unless they were murderers last week. ]
[i'm losing it we're just going to say it's the thought that counts.]
It has been several weeks, you realize. Naturally people would be inclined to speak with us, and therefore they would learn more about the operations of the hotel and we would learn about our guests. [they tilt their head.] While I normally would applaud you for your profiling skills, I feel as though there may have been a disconnect there...
Of course we're busy, but if we were we wouldn't have provided means for you to communicate with us. Some of us tend to slack off slightly more than others.
[...they. fold their arms and kind of tilt their head. yes? what is it that you're questioning, exactly? you heard them.]
...But then on the other hand, in the last thing, there was this vampire who bit me on the very first day, and I kept telling everyone we needed to lock him up and no one would do anything, and then he killed someone both weeks!! So maybe judging by the cover isn't great, but judging by the first page is totally valid sometimes!
I mean. I thought for a while that maybe that was going to happen [ and he wrote out a whole apology letter for someone to give his dad if he turned into one and couldn't go home... ], but that's not how that kind of vampire works, I guess?
A-and anyway, that whole thing turned out to be a simulation, so it never would have been an actual problem! I don't even have any of the scars I got there anymore!
[ no that's fair, he originally came out of it thinking "deaths in murdergames are fake so it's fine" until everyone here told him they usually weren't simulations...... ]
Well, not really... but as long as we were in there he was still guilty and still should have been in jail!
Well, I mean, it was execution, but since it was only two weeks and everyone stopped being dead in the middle of the second trial, it only actually happened once...
The deal was supposed to be that if we participated in this study they'd grant us any wish we wanted. But then when we actually got there they said they didn't have enough resources to grant everyone's wish, so I think maybe two of them did it because they wanted to take out enough competition to make sure they'd get theirs? And one other I think might have just been a fear thing since other people were dying.
But I think the two the vampire did were just because he was a vampire and a jerk.
While I should condone you about being prejudice against vampires, I suppose you have something of a reason to feel that way. It sounds rather foolish on your conductors' part to bring everyone there and not be able to follow through.
[ the aliens were babahlese ambassadors all along ]
I-it was supposed to be for like, all this instant courtroom experience, so I could make sure I'd do the best job possible at my first trial and look really cool and get my guilty verdict for sure!
I mean, I don't really... know how a coupon was supposed to do that... but, anyway, just as I was trying to figure out how to redeem that, suddenly Pops was in trouble and this whole thing started.
[ he still doesn't know if that timing was a coincidence or not. ]
...you truly have not had much of a break since all of this started, have you? I don't think experience is really something you can buy anyhow, but this isn't exactly a normal internship either.
Last time I was afraid the whole stupid thing happened because I wished for that and that was the courtroom it gave me to get experience in... a-and I kind of thought that again at first with this one, since I'd just taken the coupon out of the envelope that morning...
But yeah, these places are so bad at law that I don't know how much these trials help at all. ...I guess maybe they do a little, for some things, but.
I think, perhaps, the law and the court isn't always as cut and dry as one is led to believe. You could say that the insanity of trials here is meant to prepare you for anything that may be thrown your way.
[a beat.]
It isn't as though the path to the truth is cut and dry either.
[ it's always about the truth, huh. it feels like every time he starts believing it's the most important thing, he gets confronted by a horrible one the next week that he wishes had never come to light. ]
...I wish reaching it didn't feel so bad sometimes.

Of course. Then, if it was a simulation, did those deaths really happen...? [this sounds extremely insensitive but they are really just wondering.]

no subject
Uh. Why? What do you mean people just did it on their own?
