There's nothing very interesting going on, obviously. It's hard to imagine why anyone would be curious why you suddenly have rooms...

Because this hotel is a pain in the ass and just does things sometimes.

...This is the last week, according to our contracts. But everything has gotten a bit. Shadows everywhere and fading into nothing?

Don't know how much you know about machines, but think of the hotel as like a program. Not literally speaking, but figuratively, it runs according to a set of code, implemented by the Nightman. Some crap is therefore intentional on my employer's part, while some are unintended effects or glitches of the code since even programmers don't always know how exactly their script is going to run.
