[he says with a nod, resting a hand on their shoulder.

...he makes a face, but. he's beginning to get used to this just happening, and he would not care to hold their hand, so he leaves it.]

...this week is to be another difficult one, evidently.

[they tense a little under the touch, but their own hand rests on his for half a second before pulling away.]

I've come to find that nearly every week in this hotel could be deemed as difficult, yes.

So it can. A welcome improvement over the last, at least, although still a bit much.

[he draws his hand back, after another moment.]

I suppose I should take that to mean you weren't a fan of memory theater? [dryly. so, so dryly.]

[ktiseos]

Ah, and you were, I assume.

[equally dry.]

I am sure we're all relieved.

[guestservices]

Yes, actually. [haha surprise.] I found it to be rather enlightening in understanding the needs of our guests.

[ktiseos]

Do you not know enough of us already to be so enlightened, without being given such knowledge?

[guestservices]

There is a difference between obtaining knowledge and hearing first-hand experience, you realize. I always prefer the latter. Eye witnesses, if you will.

[ktiseos]

...fair enough, I suppose. Seeing through another's eyes is ever the most detailed way to view things.

[guestservices]

Precisely. In this case, there also leaves little room for misunderstanding of what's been seen rather than what someone has directly told you.

[ktiseos]

And did you learn aught of us which surprised you, then, even knowing what you already know?

A general question, mind.

[he's not asking them to specifically list anything.]

I did, actually. Which alone was surprising, but there were several other moments of clarity I was able to obtain. Overall, it was not as treacherous as I had initially imagined. Though I cannot blame any guest who does not feel the same.

[ktiseos]

It would have been less so if not for these-- other instances of myself.

[local man will stay annoyed about that.]

Just how many versions of yourself did you regain?

[ktiseos]

Two others, though they were both-- certainly similar to each other.

[guestservices]

But not precisely the same?

[ktiseos]

From different places, it seemed.

[guestservices]

And the timelines? The memories?

[ktiseos]

Similar, I think, if not the same. He seemed-- close enough to the same, each time.

[guestservices]

I see. [they pause to think about this.] And does that bother you? Seeing those futures.

[ktiseos]

Of course it does. I had already heard what sort of person I am, then-- seeing it was unnecessary.
