[ emet's not left waiting too long!

out of a shadowy portal comes aquila. they've forgone gloves today, as their hands are a pitch black color and end in sharp claws - they are also, maybe more noticeably, sporting a pair of large, pitch black wings. ]

I've got a little time. 'llo, Emet-Selch.

[it's wings hours in this establishment today. he's hanging out here, waiting, and gives them a nod when they arrive. there are already two wine glasses.]

Only a little, is it? Busy as ever.

[guestservices]

[ oh, good. they seem immediately pleased, coming right over to take one. ]

Are you wining and dining me?

[ktiseos]

You were the one who asked for it, weren't you?

[he takes up his own glass in a similarly clawed hand.]

amused! very amused. they come over, dropping into a chair and settling. ]

Wow, I really ate crow on that one. I'll be damned. [ they will gladly take their drink. what are they drinking? if emet watches as they pull a straw out and stick it in the glass, well, listen. sometimes its hard to be a veiled npc.

they lift it to cheers first though. ]

[he doesn't know wines, he either literally just asked for 'a good red wine' when he ordered or picked one that sounded fine at near-random so. genuinely it could be anything.

he looks faintly amused at their straw solution, but raises his glass in turn.]

Mayhap that was the point.

You definitely seem like the kind of guy who likes to make birds eat their words. Literally.

[ aquila laughs. the wine is good enough, apparently - they make an approving noise. ]

It is hardly my fault, if you made it easy.

[he takes a sip from his own glass, there.]

But I expect you should eat more than your words, as well.

[ aquila is quiet for a second. ]



Whoa, whoa, whoa. You know this isn't the station, right.








[ aquila attempted to resist the urge to make a dirty joke, and failed. ]

it takes a minute.

then he makes a face.]

they sip their wine. ]

Just checking. Order whatever you want! I'll just steal a bite or two.

Fine, then.

[he will! it's some sort of like. charcuterie plate, almost, but instead of just meats and cheeses it includes some fruit and vegetables as well. me, making my best guesses at ancient food and deciding that they probably did things like this over cooking too much.]

As I am certain you can guess, however, I also wished to speak with you of other matters.

Nobody ever just wants to hang out.

[ they sigh, but it's clear they're just teasing, as they prop their chin in their hand. ]

Alright. Talk to me, then.

[ktiseos]

We've preemptively discussed part of it. The other, however-

[he pulls out his carefully-made copy of the hangman paper, raising a brow as he offers it to aquila. you guys have access to it i'm not linking this thing yet again.]

I'm sure someone so duty-bound would never have kept themselves otherwise occupied during work events? [no he wouldn't be at all surprised if it was aquila. anyway.] I do not know if the others have told you, but we were given this on that excursion of ours.

[ they take the paper

and then they snort. ]

Ooooooh, Gems is gonna make all of us hear it for this, aren't they? We're gonna get lectured to all hell. [ again. they don't say it, but emet can probably feel it in their tone of voice. ] I can't tell whose it is, but it's not mine.

Oh, most likely. I spoke with them first.

But you seemed as if you would find it amusing, if not participate.

Of course you did.

[ they sigh, reaching under their veil to either adjust something or rub between their eyebrows. ]

I mean, it is pretty funny. I'll give you that.

Mm. Rather more confusing than amusing, in my own experience.

[hangman is fucking haunting.]

You seem like the kind of person who likes a good puzzle! That's surprising.

I prefer that they not be the ridiculous sort of puzzle.

Haha. Me too. I guess I should drink more if I'm gonna have to prepare myself to get scolded for a week. [ they sigh, and take a huge drink out of their glass. ] Ugh.

Do take care that you are not simply scolded while hungover.

[he says, with a sip of his own.

and while he debates making any mention of it at all-]

I could have sworn some of the writing upon it was familiar to me, you know.

[ they wave that off, down the rest of their wine, and hold the glass out to the shadowy waiter to get it topped off.

the second part has them tilt their head. ] Oh?

Vaguely so, but familiar nevertheless.

[casual enough, as he picks up a slice of cheese in his claws.]

Weird. Wonder why? Maybe it's like someone from home?
