Still burns. [she mumbles. in a good way, and a bad way. it hurts, and it heals - fire is not good or evil, it just is. that's kind of how she feels, sometimes. she just... is. human, with contradictions and loyalties and a desire to bring a little light.]
[ aquila agrees, quietly, watching her sort of melting into sleepy. ] Still you.
[ he's quiet for a moment longer, just observing - holding his tongue for a moment, or just taking in the absolute fucking miracle of the fact that lup's still alive here, after her second dose of cyoa hell, after yet another week of murders. good, bad, human, emotional, alive. that's what matters the most.
he very gently taps his thumb against her cheek. ]
Let's get you into bed, little phoenix. You'll melt to ashes in this chair.
[ he is not even a little surprised by this, actually; aquila just cracks a smile, enough that you can hear it in the low reverberation of a chuckle. he moves to scoop her up, and like always, it's easy, careful not to jostle anything that might still be hurting. eyes closed, it must be familiar - he smells like flowers and medicine, and is just a little cold.
over to the bed they go; aquila presses a knee into the bed to set her down gently, reaching for the covers if she'll let him. who needs legs.exe when you are a little spoiled. ]
[she is a lot spoiled because by the time she's to the bed she's mostly asleep.
the smell of flowers and medicine sticks in her head, though. she rumbles a bit at that, nose wrinkling, and when he sets her down, she doesn't let go. don't go. maybe selfishly, don't go.]
aquila does try to pry her free just a little bit, but, honestly, they probably could try harder. eventually, they give up, and just settle down, settling down with the bundle of lup now in their arms and leaning back against the bed's headboard and letting her just use them as a pillow, for now.
aquila sighs out, and mumbles; ] Gonna be the death of me, huh. [ which they absolutely do not mean at all, because it sounds terribly affectionate even in that gravelly, affected voice. they stroke their fingers through her hair anyway. spoiled.]
