as the stardust fades, orion is sitting perfectly still, stiff. it's a long moment of silence that passes between them, as they process the memory - the pass of emotions between them, the desperation from lup, the... care, insistent, from the man he doesn't know.
[ they say, a little ruefully. they were supposed to have forgotten lup's assumption but it feels okay to talk about, right now. ] He seems like a good man.
[she doesn't seem to mind, anyway. it's clear he's on her mind.]
It's a compliment and an insult. [she says, but it sounds a little like a joke. she takes another drink.] Um.
He found out I was planning to feed everybody to a furby and somehow, he didn't immediately try to kill me. [...] He came to save me, actually. All of them did.
I don't think you're wrong to have been nervous... but I'm glad that it worked out. It's - sometimes, the benefit of having a lower expectation is to be surprised.
[ they shift a bit where they're sitting, and, as they do - they're hit with a rain of stardust.

it's one of your natural skillsets. you've always had an ability to blend into the shadows, and so when you start this silly game, you know you've got a little bit of an advantage.
it's been a heavy few days, and maybe some levity is what you both need. you know she does. as you slip through the trees, you make your way up, upwards, and you duck into a thicket of branches and nearly become invisible, despite your dark clothing.
your target walks below you - she looks determined and focused, from left to right, trying to figure out where you disappeared to, and you wait, and you wait...
... and then, when she walks directly under the branch you're next to, you stomp down on it, and she shrieks as snow comes down onto her shoulders in a heap.
the shriek turns to giggling as she flings all three of her snowballs back in the direction of the tree in retaliation, and you are so distracted that you don't even notice until the center one hits you right in the face, wet and very cold.
there's a long pause.
... and you can't help it -
you laugh.
you laugh, because it's ridiculous, and you're giggling along with her too, and as you hop down from the tree, you marvel at how light you feel, cheeks flushed and smiling, even if your face is now freezing cold. the pain and suffering for a moment, is gone. the hurt from your experience - from your life, really, as heavy as a blanket - eases away.
...you'd forgotten what a simple thing it is, to be happy.
... when the memory ends, orion's holding still, but... not as tense. this isn't a bad memory to see, and they breathe out, slowly, hands uncurling from where they were loosely in fists at their side. ]
