[she watches them for a second.] Do you want me to hold it with the hand you're not doing?

...probably wouldn't hurt. [take the bottle and give them your hand!]

[takes the bottle and gives them her hand!!]

Should I assume you don't paint your nails very often?

[hand...but they hold onto her hand with one of theirs, the other holding the nail brush to start doing touch-ups.]

You'd assume right. Constantly wearing gloves kinda makes a manicure useless, don't you think? And I've never really done it to myself anyway.

I guess so. [she tilts her head a bit.] ... You haven't always been here, have you?

Let's just say I have a long and varied resume. Jack of all trades and stuff.

[her ear flicks.]

I guess not. It's just hard to make conversation with people who can't or won't tell you anything about themselves.

...sorry. [they do seem to actually feel a little bad about that.] It's just...better. I know it's a lot to ask you to trust me, but it is. We can still talk and I can tell you thinks if I can, but that's about it.

Maybe surprisingly. it's not a huge ask. I trust you fine.

I don't really believe any of you are here to screw us over, even if some of you are trying to convince me otherwise.

...thanks. [that's what they say first, focused on the almost-meticulous way they're touching up her nails.]

Some of you really push the limit with us, so we always have to remind you guys that we're just staff.

[she watches them for a moment, and then:]

I'm not really intending on staying away from the limit unless it seems like it'll punish you guys. Just so you know.

And that's fine, but I can't guarantee that we can ever give you what you really want. [. . .] But I feel like you might understand that a little better than some people.

... Yeah. I do.

[she's quiet for a moment, and then:] Things changed for me, though. I hope it changes for you.

[they finish painting the nails on this one hand.]

...I can count the number of times a change has been good for me, Lup. Maybe this one will be, or maybe it won't. Until then, I can only focus on my job and making sure we're doing what we can for the guests.

[she pulls the hand back to absently blow on the paint.]

You never know unless you try. [she says, glancing at them.] You do all that, but know I'm here too, okay? Even if you can't accept my help, I'm not going anywhere.

I know you aren't. You don't exactly strike me as a person that runs away from stuff like this just because you don't get an answer. [a pause.] But thanks.

Yep. You're right. And sure thing. [... she offers her other hand.]

This looks good, surprisingly!

What, you didn't believe me? I'm hurt. [they are not. they are going to work on the new hand.] It helps that you're keeping steady.

I'm pretty okay at that, in a pinch. [staying steady, she means.]
