The fiend that Bradley smacked lunges at him again, trying to tackle him and bite his shoulder this time. The fiend that bit Jason is kicked back, but then it swipes at Jason's chest before trying to dart around Jason, apparently aiming either for Bradley or for Ben.]
[This damn fiend thing! The swipe makes him stumble back. He tries to clothesline the thing before it can get around, but he's not quick enough. So he scrambles after it when it heads for Bradley or Ben.]
Watch out! Just run!
[Just going to try to tackle the thing. Why not! No one said he ever made good choices!]
[Well. In succession, Jason tackles a fiend; the other one swipes at Bradley's back, drawing blood; Ben blasts at the third one that had initially attacked him, about to leap at Jason.]
Bradley, look after Marshmallow!
[He quickly places the cat on the ground, before firing another blast at the fiend that attacked Jason. Said cat is running around wildly, having no idea what's going on right now.
The fiend pinned underneath Jason, meanwhile, snarls and attempts to snap its jaws at his hand.]
[LOOK. He didn't want it to jump on Bradley or Ben!! His Bs!
The fiend can snap at his hand, but it's the one he raises up to just, like, punch the shit out of it. Does this hurt his hand? Yes. He really said he's going to fist fight this terrible fiend in front of God and everyone. Fuck guns. He will punch his problems.
But it's fine because he's also trying to get up so he can book it.]
[Jason can fuck up his hand as much as he likes. Once he gets off of the fiend and books it, though, Ben will send one last blast to at least knock the fiend off before flying out with Jason and Bradley + Marshmallow.
They're not pursued by any more fiends, at least, as they escape the cavern. The entrance through which they fled is dotted with mushrooms, while a creak runs nearby. In the distance, a village can be seen.
Ben hovers in the air, giving them both a worried look. Now that things seem to have calmed down, Marshmallow wriggles to try and get out of Bradley's grasp and jump back onto the ground.]
You guys all right?
[While their injuries might not be terrible, Jason and Bradley will both start to feel a tingling sensation from wherever the fiends drew blood. Gradually, they'll find themselves getting... hungry? Very hungry, in fact, until it reaches a near starving state.
And while they can't see it on themselves, they might see it on each other: the edges of their sclera are starting to turn black.]
He's shaking his hand a bit as they slow down from their wild run from the fiends and the cave. He glances from the village in the distance to Bradley, and Ben, and Marshmallow.]

[Well. He was a little hungry...? Now he's... a lot hungry? He raises his hand to look it over; the tingling is weird. His chest, too. Why... is it tingling?]

[Ben sounds? worried? Marshmallow hides behind his ankles, still not sure what's happening.
But as the hunger settles, so do—other urges? With each second that ticks by, Jason and Bradley will both feel the need to destroy. To devour, to kill every living thing they see. Not necessarily each other—though they aren't exactly allies either—but as for anything else... they are so hungry, and they so badly need to lash out, tear everything else apart.
If they are still headed toward the village, he will slow to a stop. Not... a good place to be, he thinks, when he's feeling kind of messed up. HE ALREADY HAS ISSUES WITH ANGER, DON'T DO THIS TO HIM.]

[Ben crouches down to whisper urgently to Marshmallow, who darts into a bush to hide. Then, Ben stands back up, hovering off the ground as he gives them another concerned look.]

That urge to eat, to kill, to destroy grows within Jason and Bradley, and there's only one living being in the vicinity right now—]

A young-looking figure in blue, floating above the ground with a distressed look on his face. (A cat in the bush, if they look closely.) Jason and Bradley, with black sclera, looking as though they're about to lose control; they're within the first stages of corruption. Curable, but in only one way. Otherwise, those who've been contaminated are lost for good.
Once more, Cloud and Sebastian know: this is the day that the calamity struck, when a certain spirit became a fiend.
Meanwhile, Cloud and Sebastian's arrival might at least distract Jason and Bradley, even if only in the sense that there is now more they must destroy. Their minds are on the precipice now—flickering between moments of sanity and the hunger, the rage, the near irresistible need to attack any of the three before them.

of course he doesn't have much time to consider things before sebastian's throwing himself in the middle of the fray, so he's just going to follow and place himself between sebastian+ben and jason+bradley, not taking his sword out yet because that's a. big sword to stab people he knows with.

And Cloud and Sebastian come out of the cave at just the right moment. He really has a hard time with controlling it. He looks--for a moment, surprised. He should... no, he knows...?]

[His eyes widen for a moment. He knows Sebastian. For a moment that recognition means Bradley doesn't go for him, even though he's in front, as he passes by and lunges for Cloud-]

[He's rapidly losing his sense and sanity. The desire to eat and tear and destroy is overtaking his better judgement.]

Hovering by Sebastian and Cloud, Ben looks as though he's about to send a blast towards Bradley and Jason; however, he freezes up instead, given the damage he'd likely do to them.

He's truly hanging on by a thread. What little bit of coherency is left is mortified by how powerful the urge to destroy, and eat, and destroy more is. He grabs his head with both hands and groans through his teeth.]

[He lifts his head so suddenly again. The black of his eyes might as well be a void. He rushes again without thinking, without restraint. Cloud this time. He'll just destroy Cloud.]
[ sebastian also turns to look at cloud with wide eyes. he hadn't really understood the situation when he ran out here hoping he could somehow just stop their friends from dying and save everyone, but hearing it put that way, he remembers what both cloud and ren had said about the cure for the corruption and goes pale.
he looks back to ben. ]
Hey, um— I-I'll tell you how we can save them, come on.
[ assuming ben's new form allows for it, sebastian's going to take his hand and try to hide them both somewhere nearby for a minute so they can talk through this while cloud... hopefully manages to deal with the others. ]
