[ hello, claude and sebastian! who knows why the two of you were hanging out, or where you were going, but as you find yourselves walking down the hallways of floor 02, the locked door catches your eye.
while this door has been impossible to do anything with all week, all of a sudden, the two of them can see a golden plaque on the center of the door that reads Employee Lounge. that was definitely not there before.
maybe this is a good time to try to get in?
please reply to this tag with the methodology you all might use to try to get into the room, and we'll work from there! ]
[ Well! That sign definitely wasn't there before, while Claude was foolishly going into all of the mystery rooms. He's made out of a murky fog today, which might be a little frightening when he grabs Sebastian to investigate with him. ]
Wouldn't happen to know anything about picking locks, would you?
[ Testing the door to check if it's actually locked first! Assuming it is, he will check for a bypass, and if there isn't one, whip out his dagger to try and monkey with it. ]
[ Definitely jumping from this fog monster grabbing him??? With his cute pomeranian ears standing up straight, along with his ahoge. But he can... maybe figure out who he's looking at if he squints really hard... ]
Oh, you're... um.
[ ...Well, whatever, he doesn't need to remember his name. ]
A-anyway, no, that's illegal!!!
[ Buuuut he's going to look through his pockets anyway... he's got his baton that he can take the rubber ball tip off of, but that's probably still too thick... ]
[ i just made spoon roll disadvantage on that and spoon got a nat 20 and a 17. wow.
so claude is a stinky, stinky little man. a stinky little man with a stinky little plan with a dagger. he's also got the help of sebastian, who is incredibly adorable with his cute little pomeranian ears. because of the help of this incredibly adorable assistant, claude is able to enter his door mind palace, and with an incredible deftness, manages to wriggle his dagger into the hole of the lock until....
click!
the door swings open.
the two of them may want to duck in quickly - they might hear footsteps coming down the hallway. are you going in, rule breakers? ]
[ Oh good, he was just realizing the only sharp object he had was the pin of his prosecutor's badge and he was going to feel really weird if he tried to use that to break into a— whoa!!! ]
W-well, I... guess not...
[ And now that he's IN HERE PROBABLY COMMITTING A CRIME he guesses he will also look around... ]
[ it's time to commit crimes, sebastian! crimes!!!!
when the two of them jump inside and shut the door, they can wait for just a few moments as the footsteps die down. once they do...
....Claude and Sebastian find themselves in a fairly small room. The room itself is lavishly decorated much like the rest of the hotel - a few ornately paneled walls separate some velvet chairs and small tables from each other to give a modicum of privacy. There’s a golden bar cart sitting near one of the tables, stocked with bottles of some kind and what looks like a bowl of small snacks sitting on top of the cart itself. A small, dark wooden bookshelf sits in the corner, full of books, and a vintage radio sitting on top of it plays a crackling tune.
There’s also a nice desk! A small cabinet hangs just overtop of it, the door to it closed, and a corkboard hangs beside that, with some papers and a few objects pinned to it. Beside that is a filing cabinet. There are some posters on the wall, and a single, ancient television sits mounted across from a couple of the velvet chairs.
the room is empty, otherwise. where would they like to look? ]
Besides, I'd say it's more important to learn about what's keeping us hostage here than worrying about a door or two.
[ Since Sebastian seems to be on board for now, Claude will let him go to start looking around. He'll glance over the bottles and the snacks (anything good?) before turning his attention to the desk. He's going to focus specifically on the corkboard to see what information is there. ]
C'mon, help me look around and we can leave here faster.
[ Pops would probably forgive him for breaking the law to help him anyway, right...?
Takes a deep breath and exhales. Okay. He's doing this!!
He's kind of into this music, actually, and waves his baton along with the rhythm as he investigates. He'll take a look at the file cabinet while Claude checks the corkboard! Does this also need a key... ]
claude first: the bottles appear to be water bottles. there's the occasional starlight c*ke or spr*te, some with a note that reads FREE TO ANYONE. the snacks are a mix of things - fruit, goldfish crackers, some bagged chips, nothing fancy.
as for the corkboard, the first thing claude will see is... a schedule! it looks like this: WEEK: THE PRISM LOCATION: MEETING HALL SATURDAY DUTY: AQUARIUS, AQUILA, CETUS, VIRGO
WEEK: AHNKEEN LOCATION: CHURCH SATURDAY DUTY: GEMINI, LEPUS, ORION, VULPECULA
he will also see that there are many little drawings pinned to the corkboard! a dog, a cat, something that might be a bird? a tree with a smiley face, among many others! they are all on hotel stationery. aw.
sebastian, who is committing crimes for the first time in his life, will find that the filing cabinet... does have a lock. does he dare try to pick it? ]
Really? Um, does it say anything about the weeks after this one?
[ But he's asking that kind of distractedly and not listening that hard for an answer because oh god he's really a criminal now. Closes his eyes and unpins his badge from his lapel... then opens them again to look at the lock.
This is probably too short to plausibly work, but he's trying... This is for you, Pops!!!! ]
[ the desk has a typewriter on it, though the pages are currently clean! it also has a phone.
the desk itself is very neatly organized. the cabinet... sure does have a lock! how'd you guess! it is a different lock than the other one, though. instead of having a hole for a key, it appears to have five spinning dials with the letters of the alphabet.
with a six sebsatian's pin..........bends in the lock.
Well, I guess he's exchanging his baton for a fucking dagger now, but actually he's just going to ditch the file cabinet for a second to see if he can get lucky and find the key somewhere else.
Does the desk have any drawers... that don't require keys.............. ]
Uh... [ Looks down at the baton sticking out of his jacket pocket ] ...Baton? Or... catch... enter...? Enter makes sense!
meanwhile! when sebastian pops open the file cabinet, he'll find a drawer full of impeccably organized files. each file folder tab has a name on it, in alphabetical order.
AIKAWA. ALBERICH, KAEYA. AMABUKI, MARIE. BAIN, BRADLEY BARNES, JAMES BUCHANAN BLAIDDYD, DIMITRI ALEXANDRE CLEMENTINE DEBESTE, SEBASTIAN
when sebastian pulls his file, he fins a copy of his guestbook page. he also finds details about himself, such as...
• KILLS: --
• Befriended a bee after running away from it like 20 times first and planted some white chrysanthemums and also learned the word chrystanthemum • Made some Sim City world with a badass flaming skull motif with Vicious. • It's made clear that his obsession with being the best stems from his desire for the approval of his father • He's obsessed with being the best at everything he does...
[ Oh this is awkward. It is also awkward for me personally as I notice that I typoed chrysanthemum the second time I typed it in my app, rip.
Puts... that away... ]
Um... yeah, let me see...
[ — actually first he's going to glance at the Emet-Selch file to see if he should be even more terrified of his bathroom situation than he already is.
But then yes, he will look at the Clementine file! ]
[ the posters are these: 1, 2, 3. wow. incredible! and the courtyard does not list a week beyond ahnkeen.
the cabinet with the word puzzle is still there above the desk.
no worries on your typo, sweet eric! i didnt even notice. on the other hand...
EMET-SELCH: KILLS: -- • Focused his efforts in trying to both help the residents and get everyone out, as he had gotten Very attached to Bass and refused to leave without trying to fix the problems that had kept him there in the first place. • However, able to lean on those he'd gotten to know afterward, including Percy and Vax • He sees mortals more as people now, • In ancient society it is weird to say someone 'died', or to talk about death.... • Elephant?
clem's file has a red stamp on the front of it that says DECEASED.
CLEMENTINE KILLS: 1 • Honestly one or two deaths a week isn't that bad especially since it's one a schedule • Bunnies protect bunnies • Clementine is 16 and has been living through the zombie apocalypse since she was 8...
Claude gives them all a bleak look before returning... to the Wordle. ]
Here we go again.
[ Okay, the second letter isn't A, E or O, so instead of putting in a whole word he will try to find the vowels. Where are you. Trying I and U in the second slot.
I'm gonna push my luck and see if he can try testing the first letter for all five vowels too, this T is killing me. ]
[ Oh... okay, he's not sure what the elephant thing is about (unless it's just referring to how HUGE HE IS!!!), but Emet sounds pretty okay, actually... Maybe he should chill a little...
Hastily putting that one back!! ]
Clementine's... has a "deceased" stamp on it, and a "Kills: 1" thing, but it doesn't look that different otherwise...? At least as far as I can tell.
[ He will read this one out loud!! ]
I think they're all in here if you want to look at any besides mine.
[ Actually let's check Cloud quick too, is there anything about him being dead and then not dead? 'Cause that was weird. ]
[ [ ⬛⬛🟨⬛🟨 BATON ⬛⬛🟨⬛⬛ CETUS ⬛🟩🟨⬛⬛ AITOU X I XXX a hit! now claude can see that the yellow one... might mean something different than "i got it"......and the puzzle looks a little different.

very suddenly, though, the file cabinet drawer will slam shut in sebastian's face. he will feel like he really ... really needs to help solve that puzzle...... ]
anyway: when the two of them say night out loud enough times, the lock makes a couple of noises. click, click click -
and the door pops open!
inside of the cabinet are eight keys. each one has this keychain attached to it. the two of them may get a fairly decent look at the keys: each is also labeled with a letter. A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H
... but then, all of a sudden, there's a bright flash of light, like a star blinking to light in the room, and the eight keys vanish, leaving nothing in the cabinet. both claude and sebastian have exactly enough time to realize that the box is gone, before a set of shadows suddenly swirl through the room, and the two of them are unceremoniously shoved out of the employee lounge.
the door, however, remains unlocked, though they will find themselves dizzy and unable to return to the lounge for an hour or so.
congrats on unlocking the employee lounge! congrats on solving the wordle puzzle i fucked up!!! go report your findings! ]
