Mine have typically remained consistent, but I do not think my line of work is comparable to yours.

To put it simply, we assist the leaders of the various nations throughout Eorzea and our allies beyond, be it matters of diplomacy or acting as fellow soldiers in war.

and how do you even get into something like that?

The original incarnation of our organization was founded by my grandfather, so you could say it was family influence that allowed me to have a place within it.

There is naught else I would find more satisfying, I feel. Oft is it difficult work, but full glad am I to do it.

Of course, though you need not worry. It was mine own decision to follow in my grandfather's footsteps from the beginning.
If anything, I had gotten into a number of arguments with my father about it, for he deeply disapproved of this decision.

Well, it is hardly a secret. My homeland of Sharlayan has, for a long time now, been an isolated nation that kept most knowledge to itself with a strong stance of not interfering with events happening elsewhere in the world.
Being a member of the Forum, Sharlayan's governing body, my father has always held very - traditional views, shall we say, and my grandfather's ideals went against what our nation believed in.

but at the same time i can see why someone would maybe want to actually change things

To put it simply, yes, that is essentially it.
Change is essential, as is using your knowledge for the betterment of others. What good is it if not for that?

I can but hope.
It is what I had wanted to do last I found myself in such circumstances, but I do not know how successful I were.

But, well - I do not know. We did what we could, of course, but it was a little more complicated than that, I think.

Anyroad - to step back some. I have thought back on it plenty, and I do wish I could have perhaps done more, or some things differently. But there is a saying about hindsight...
I can only learn from my mistakes then and not repeat them here. If naught else, I hope to manage that much.
