Isn't it lovely? I usually keep the window open, when I'm here.

[There's a look of recognition in her eyes as she gazes at the trees! She looks back with a smile.]

I'm sure I would do the same. Actually, there's a similar tree I can see from my window...

[She's fond of the view in her own room too, of course.]

Oh, but more importantly... Do you have any idea what's happening here at the hotel?

[ hehe. they're not surprised by that, but make a little noise that sounds like approving. their similar taste!!

Some of the rooms we used to be able to enter are strange... There are shadows all around the entrances, and I don't think we can go in anymore.

[ she can't see their face, but there's a frown in their voice. ]

...Iunno, either. To be honest, it surprised us too. But, it's getting to be the end of your contract, so... who knows.

Nah, not really. I wouldn't spend too much time in those spots, though, yeah? [ a little worried sounding. ] They're unpredictable. The shadows always are.

I won't. It looks much too ominous... but I'm worried they might spread to even more parts of the hotel.

Yeah, shit, that'd be bad.

[ aquila frowns, folding their arms. ] We'll try and keep an eye on it for the next couple days. Just gotta last to the end of the week.

[She hesitates...]

When the day comes... we'll be able to reach the lobby, right?

[ they glance at her. ]

...I think you'll be able to. It might be difficult - I don't think it'll be a walk down the stairs like it is right now, to be quite honest. But there'd be no point in a contract's existence if the ability for you to fulfill it wasn't there.

[She smiles faintly.]

... I think I can believe that.

That it won't be easy... but it must still be possible. For all of us.

It's always easier to achieve what feels impossible if you allow yourself not for a second to see it that way.

[ aquila is a little bit of a determinator in that way. they give her a little nudge with their shoulder. ] People're counting on you, yeah? You're a little light around here.

[She looks a little surprised, but after a moment, she nods.]

I've always wanted to be someone who people can count on. Even if just in small ways...

[ they reach over and pat her on the head. ]

Don't tell anyone my secrets, but, y'know? Talking to you every week's been one of my favorite things here. [ there's a wink in their voice. ] So, I think you've done a good job.

[That brings a smile to her face.]

Really? I'm so glad... I've really enjoyed the time I've spent with you, too.
