...I actually did forget about it, technically, but I was an unusual case. Generally, you are correct.
Killing wasn't required in the agreement. It was, however, suggested that getting what we were promised might be easier if fewer people were there at the end to share in the reward.
I have been thinking recently that...there are many things in my life which I have been given no say over. So I value those times when I am given the choice to refuse, no matter how reckless or painful that choice may be.
