A little! A little, yeah. [but after that most of their emotions taper down to something calm and even as they listen.]
Even if you don't know yet, it doesn't hurt to watch them and observe while you can. [...] You have to pick four people each week, right? I guess it depends if you trust the people you care about to be able to take care of themselves if you can't offer them extra protection.
If they're targeted, maybe they can fight back. But the draw of protection is very appealing. [...]
I wish I had advice that wasn't something like "use your best judgment." It's easy to say something like that, but putting it into action is where it gets trickier. What kind of advice would you give one of your participants if this came up back at your station?
I don't know if this ever came up at the station. We didn't have these. Nobody worked with us, it was just the wild west, and when people came to me, it was always to ask me for fun toys to murder people with.
I think there's a difference between whining and expressing exasperations but I get it. You're able to do something, it's just about figuring out how to do it.
[they pause and seem to think on something.]
You didn't think twice before signing the addendum, did you?
But let it be known, if anybody tries to yell at me at the end of this, I'm going to be very cross, and I will cry. I will cry so much that they actually feel very bad and then I will not forgive them.
Oh, you never know. I really expected my sinners to yell at me for trying to feed them to a furby, but instead they just keep telling me I have bad taste in men.

[stop]
... I don't know if it matters. If they don't have extra protection, they could just get their card drawn, and nothing can be done about it.

I was really bad at it. Half the time I just, uh -- [...] How old are you. Do I have to PG-13 myself?

That doesn't work here! Probably!
no subject
Sorry. Okay. So that doesn't work here. That can't be the only thing you did at the station.
no subject
I don't know if this ever came up at the station. We didn't have these. Nobody worked with us, it was just the wild west, and when people came to me, it was always to ask me for fun toys to murder people with.
And I couldn't tell them no.
no subject
That sounds horrible. Being locked into something you can't change.
no subject
Yeah. This is like round two! Like, congrats, you're locked in, here's a bunch of responsibility for people's lives!
... Like, it's fine. I'm not going to make my way through each one of you to whine and whimper, I'll just deal. At least I can do something.

no subject
No. I didn't. Miles doesn't deserve to die just because I didn't want a little bit of extra responsibility.
[well, and - she genuinely does want to help, it's just that miles was the extra push.]
no subject
...think about it this way, Lup. No one else would have an easy time with your job either.

But let it be known, if anybody tries to yell at me at the end of this, I'm going to be very cross, and I will cry. I will cry so much that they actually feel very bad and then I will not forgive them.
no subject
[they. say this with such finality that they pause again before carrying on.]
I find it hard to believe people would yell for something you don't exactly have control over, but people get angry for dumber things.
no subject
People get angry about weird things!
no subject
Well. Do you have bad taste in men?
no subject
That depends on what you consider bad taste?
no subject
Forget I asked, actually, because that would require comparing your taste in people to mine.
no subject
I want to know! What's your taste! Who here do you think is cute?
no subject
Come on! It's been a week, first of all, and isn't there such a thing against staff and guest relations?
[they ask, ignoring that lup was very close to several people at the station.]
no subject
Besides, I'm not saying you have to kiss them, I'm just curious who you think is cute!
no subject
I haven't looked. I haven't met with many of you face to face yet.
