[ hm. well the first thing to do when a room is dark is to slowly step in and check for a light switch? turn the lights on. see the security office in all its glory. ]
Look very carefully, it is quite small, but of great sentimental importance. I'm having trouble remembering where it might be. It may even be that what I'm looking for it written down somewhere.
[she will walk towards the unnatural glowing light ig.]
[there's no light switch. cloud can look around on the walls for one, but there isn't one. instead, as they enter the room both of them will soon see that the glow is coming from a full wall of monitors displaying several black and white images. the light from the screens casts enough light to show what appears to be a switchboard below, toggles to flip back and forth between pictures. there are two chairs, and a desk beneath the monitors with a few items.
there's a table behind them too, but it's hidden in the shadows enough they can't quite see it.
meanwhile, the door slams closed and locks again.]
[ great. awesome. cloud's eyes glow in the dark a little but not nearly enough for it to be any kind of light source at all. he's going to start with the desk underneath the monitors; check out what the items on it are? and if there are any drawers on that desk.
he will come back for you later table when he can see. ]
as he starts looking at the desk, he'll find that there are two lamps on either end? so that probably explains the lack of lightswitches. there are two drawers to the desk itself, both of which are closed right now. paper and pen sits on the desk, including harrow's note she just slid in.
harrow will see a few things on the monitors! there are pictures of all of the openly available rooms, and a few sights out at wiwaldi including remnants of today's baseball game. every now and then, the screens will rotate to different angles of the room. a few of the screens also appear dark, shadowed figures moving over them in slow bobs and weaves.
welcome to security where you can see a wide range of stuff.]
but yeah he'll turn at least one lamp on. then he'll look to see if there's anything written on the papers on the desk first, beside the one with harrow's note on it. is there anything special about the pen. and are the drawers capable of being open.
[she looks closer at the monitors with shadow figures. are they located anywhere in particular? watching anyone in particular? anything unusual about their behavior?]
[when cloud turns on the lamp, a few things happen.
a.) he will see that there are papers on the desk that seem to be a laundry list of items. literally. it's a list of room numbers that may need laundry service. icky. b.) there are also papers that seem to be lists of locations at wiwaldi and channels to tune into. c.) the drawers can be opened! d.) he doesn't get to look in them because harrow is watching the shadow figures on the monitors, and soon several eyes swivel to look directly at the camera. they are now watching the two of them, and the shadows begin to quickly crawl out of the screens for them.
[ i mean, he's getting his sword out just in case, too, but you know. turn it off, harrow. he hastily gives her the paper with channels to tune into also in case it like, helps her change the channel or something. sure. this is helpful ]
[harrow is in the middle of getting her knife out to open a vein so it's probably a good idea he gave her that paper. yes, she will try to change the channel or switch off the monitors.]
...Keep looking, I'll try to draw them. I do have a knife and I'll gladly stab him, if that's what you're interested in?
[love that they both are so quick to stab. however, they won't have to because harrow is able to switch the monitor over to a picture of the pool instead.
what a lovely, non-shadow-y view. unless you count the figures floating around at the bottom that are making their way to the top? coming closer to the camera....
[ DON'T LINGER ON THAT ONE EITHER. well cloud is going to hope she figures it out and try to get through the desk while this happens. she has a knife, he has a sword, it's fine, he's going to open up the drawers to look through them. ]
[the problem is that now that harrow's switching through the screens, the shadows are definitely Aware they're there. something's been triggered in the room itself to draw their attention, and they begin to seep out of the corners of the frame and congregate in the center. the eyes grow wider, and they begin to crawl, fingertips and unfortunately toes beginning to slip their way through.
cloud can open the drawer though. he'll find a few stray items including more pens and paper, coffee supplies, a flashlight, and a security baton. there's also a thick binder of papers.]
[ well. okay. they are shadows, so he takes the flashlight and hands that one over to harrow next, because? light? vs dark? he does not explain this and assumes she'll figure it out ]
Starting to get real tired of shadows. [ he's going to check what's in the binder. i hope i am wasting my time on nothing ]
[but she'll try the flashlight first. if that seems to drive them off, great. if not, she's going to turn off the lamps.
...also, she's going to try talking to the shadows, because she has nothing but an insane amount of confidence.]
You and I both know there are rules. Would our host tolerate you breaking them and jumping past your place in the established order? One at a time, isn't it? Is it your turn?
[cloud wastes time. he gets to see that the binder is a log of information that appear to be the names of old security tapes. it's a filing system of sorts.
harrow turns on the flashlight, and a full-figured shadow finally crawls all the way through the screen showing an image of the bar. however, she turns off the lamps and.
everything stops?
the light from the monitors glow. the switchboards are still lit up. they are alone and the shadows go quiet...
hm.
the flashlight doesn't seem to draw their attention, at least.
god i really thought i was going to kick you out.]
[the second drawer contains a few stray items like can be found in the gift shop? there's a blanket for if the room is too cold. a few books from the library. nothing really worthy of note.
the table in the back contains an assortment of blank video tapes! there's also a coffee pot. it's bolted to the table.
the monitors, for the record, seem to have gone back to normal.]
[ well. harrow's pointing the flashlight at it so cloud will be a good pack mule and grab the blank tapes to bring over to the monitors. and check in the coffee pot to see if it's just coffee. ]
Check around the walls and ceiling? But I think this might be the only thing of interest here.
[ gesturing. with the tapes. let's play blank tapes how many are there ]
anyway! there's nothing on the walls and ceiling, though the corners are a little darker than usual. maybe they aren't so alone now after all? the coffee pot only has coffee in it, and there are so many blank tapes. many. it seems like it's a stockpile to rotate through as other tapes are filled.
as for the monitors, there is nothing notable! the shadows seem to have disappeared from the screens, and images of the hotel cycle through.
they will also hear a distinct click of the door unlocking.]
[no, and no. there seem to be ink splotches on some of the pages obscuring the data. boo...useless shadow employees.
now that the door is unlocked, they could also turn on the lamps! but other than that, there's really nothing of note. you survived! congrats on unlocking the security room.]

the door clicks and swings open a little. the inside of the room is dark, sans some unnatural blue-light glowing. proceed? what will they do first?]
no subject
[ hm. well the first thing to do when a room is dark is to slowly step in and check for a light switch? turn the lights on. see the security office in all its glory. ]
Since we're looking for something you lost.

Right. Guess that should've been obvious.
